Can I freeze My Vodafone contract

Hi I'm new to the site.

I need help, I am going travelling early next year for 6 months+ and I need to know if it would be possible to freeze my contract untill I get back or atleast lower the tariff, as i just want to get a cheap phone with a new sim whilst on my travels.

I took out my contract in January (24 months,please do not ask why i took such a long contract dumbass i know) and want to freeze it untill i get back as it would be a drain on my travelling funds if I still had to pay monthly payments to Vodafone.

Please can anyone tell me the best way to go about this or if anyone else has had a similar problem in the pass and what the outcome was?

Yes it is. But some contracts can be frozen for so many months. Hence the question I should imagine. The provider loses nothing from doing it, and gains goodwill.
