Happy travels to BOP and Bopsie.
Some pleasures for the last few days,
Sunshine and warmth at last, time spent on garden seat reading with my little dog tucked up next to me.
So much green, lawn, hedge and the big beech trees beyond, against bright blue sky.
Can't do links but listening to and enjoying R Ford's Remembering my Parents, resonating and true.
Met up with friend, this time at local farm shop cafe so prices much more mse, enjoyable couple of hours, disconcerting part was a pair of crows tapping on glass door and squawking, apparently they do it most days for the cake crumbs!
Long chat with Uncle, he had visited France with other Uncle to see beaches etc where L's grandad had come ashore, it was as poignant and moving as expected.
The lovely RAC man who came to L's rescue when she locked herself out of car with small dog insideapparently you can't force my kind of doors ( good/bad? ) so he took me home to pick up spare key. Little dog was fine if a bit confused. First time had used breakdown bods since have been driving but boy am I glad renew each year as breaking glass would have been dangerous and expensive.
Homemade spelt bread, delicious and just enjoyed with balsamic mushrooms and spinach.0 -
Lainey - i locked a baby DD in the car, with the keys twice within a week.
Once was outside nursery and all the staff and other mums were freaking out and i was calm as calm can be. She was a bit upset but not distraught and they were all going "break the glass, break the glass". But i was adament that she was safer waiting for the AA than to break the glass - she was in her car seat so perfectly safe. If the situation had worsened then of course, i would have broken in. One of the staff even beat me into the car, once it was opened, to get her out - cheeky thing. She (DD) has no memory of it, but likes the story.
I have a bit of a track record locking keys in cars
Pleasures for yesterday
1. An 'at home' day :T worked hard and finished the v. important but rather tedious section
2. bacon and eggs for brunch and HM lasagne for tea
3. Had fun with DS, I will miss him when he goes to uni
4. Delicious wine with dinner
5. DD came home for the weekend.
Have a nice weekend allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1) A quiet day yesterday as He Who Knows has gone up to DD1 to go canoeing today.
2) Have just made (for the first time) a batch of 'oat milk' just to see what it is like and am mega impressed with the ease of making it, the cheapness of the ingredients and the taste of the finished product, yum!!!
3) Crayfish and scandi salads for my lunch today.....again YUM!!!
4) Sorted through 41 years worth of photographs yesterday as I watched (with ever increasing gloom) the rugby at Murrayfield and now have 1 and 1/2 boxed to keep and a whole carrier bag for He Who Knows to approve chucking out.
5) Spent a considerable part of yesterday house hunting on line in the west of England and have found (on paper at least) 14 that meet loosely the spec I've set at a price we can afford. Off for a look at a few one day next week.....exciting times!0 -
1. fine sunny day 2 loads washed and dried
2. popped round to see a friend for cuppa and chat
3. managed to cut the grass
4. had a walk in the evening sun, lots of huge horse chestnut trees in full bloom, lots of wildlife out enjoying the sun including a flash of blue damsel fly
5. did some tidying & a few bits of ironing. Lots more tidying and ironing to do but at least I did some of it0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

1 Picked up a wonderful oven, at smallish price, a lady was selling it for her elderly neighbour, cheap as he is moving to retirement bungalow on Thurs where it runs on leccy and he ordered gas, and it had to go, it is literally still in its crate packing. It made him a bit upset though after he’d finished counting our cash! That it was the last thing to go! Well the old oven is out 32years service, fixed 8 times by dh, and missing various bits. I’ve never had a new one and I keep staring…:o:rotfl::j
I had to do a massive kitchen cleaning spree from where the old oven was, and DH was able to install it all, saving us more.
2 It’s turned into a stunning summer evening the first so far, it’s lovely French windows flung open.:)
3 2 loads of washing hanging out.
4 Did a non-diet evening fake away in the new oven, hm pizza, hm garlic bread and chicken bits only managed half it’s too much these days.
5 Tidied the bottom of my wardrobe and binned 5 pairs of shoes that should have perhaps been binned er a good few years ago.:o0 -
I am procrastinating and and avoiding getting out a warm bed and going through to a cold kitchen to let dog out...he can wait another few minutes, I did write my Saturday pleasures but battery ran out on iPad just as I went to send.
They included.
An early start and lovely chat with friend from home.
An industrious morning spent cleaning and an afternoon furniture shifting to make way for clothes airers to be positioned over each floor vent for optimum drying over next few months...not very pretty but very practical.
Dropped off DD2 at work and popped into my old work to say hello and goodbye. Cafe has been sold, new owners from next week.
Nice dog walk and met lots of chatty , friendly people along the way.
Whilst blooming chilly, it's bright and autumn colours are just stunning. DD1, the dog and I had many a stomp through leaves.
Bought 2 cyclamen and 2 pansies for my back doorstep ....much cheaper at hardware store than at florist.
Wrote my blog. Writing is very cathartic.
It's Mothers Day here today. My first as a mum on my own. I've been invited to afternoon tea ...friends daughter had read my blog and said can we invite her for our afternoon tea which was so nice. Will drop DD2 off at work ( trains are off this weekend and silly replacement buses on instead which take forever) and then DD1 and I shall head out to them. Have had requests my lovely cupcakes , so shall enjoy baking them this morning!
Right, I'd better get up....embrace the cold and see to my doggy!
Sleep well0 -
aw pooey i was just about to post my 5 pleasures when dd2 called me down to her room - her radiator has sprung a fast leak. Emergency plumber on his way. gosh this morning seems a long long time ago
1) good skype with student at 10
2) nice bright curtains bought for small front bedroom, now hung
3) while in ford of hal i bought some leather cleaner and balm. long time since my sofas have had so much care. They are looking so much better
4) key rack spotted, bought and now hanging in kitchen
5) curtain hung in DD1's room which may be when radiator got knocked. oh well c'est la vie and 6 must surely be
6) emergency plumbers.
7) xoh and i were remembering a funny card we bought years ago and thought must have been thrown out years ago. mr piano had been sorting music in the music room and amazingly found the card!
right, fingers crossed all will be well with the radiator. provost's ceiling collapsed this week due to leaking pipe. erg!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

PK - enjoy the new oven! I had a new one this year after my 40 year old Creda Carefree was no longer repairable.
DD - hope the leak is fixed quickly.
Quick pleasures for today as am tired now.
1) A lie in!
2) Man came to clean the washing machine and the fridge/freezer (warranty deal with Currys). Well, it was nice to have them cleaned but it was no better than when I clean them myself. I was lead to believe the freezer door seals were ripped out and replaced etc but nothing that exciting happened.
3) An interesting postcard arrived ;-)
4) Smaller son very rude, swearing etc so PlayStation went to my brother's for a little rest. Smaller son perfectly OK after that so I don't know what set him off.
5) Bigger son went out twice on his bike to meet his friends. Former step son has returned home (after being thrown out by MrN). Presumably here to sit his GCSEs so will no doubt see bigger son's behaviour deteriorate rapidly now :-(
6) Smaller son and I went to local National Trust place.
7) Watched a bit of Eurovision.
8) Former colleague texted and they want me to do some exam invigilation so that should bring some pennies in.0
