Thinking of you Mhags, DS, DD1 and DD2 plus Haggis.

Will write more tomorrow as my brain just informed me it is shutting down, worn out by a mammoth post elsewhere...

    1. Thankful for support at work. I work in two locations and enjoy Monday and Tuesday more. The other location did there best to make my day hideous in the morning until a blunt email from me then didn't hear another word!!

    2. DS2 cooking tea. He cooked sausage rolls which were good.

    3. Traffic good on the way home. It seemed like school holidays it was quiet.

    4. More daffodils out in the garden. It is well worth the effort of planting them especially as they tend to look better in subsequent years.

    5. Long chat with DS1 on the phone.
  • I think there is some :heartpuls down under today. As one passes, another begins.
5 Millwright, the rat infested one, see yesterdays ditty!, has bagged the hay for the next load of work. Job is a good one!
3 On the job today, the new phone, with discounts and bits, and now with 6 months free Sport of BT, has bin pinging like a good one. BoPsie was on the streets and again relying on non-public transport. Two buses failed to turn up. I said to her get on your bike! Well, there is BoP expecting that BoPsie would ease her way with a snorker sarnie at local spoon of grease, but no. My BoPsie is not like that and got home! Money saved!
2 Last night we wolfed off the last of the non Icelandic Kedgeree. It was superb. Recipe available on request. Details below on how to live like BoP!
We return to where we started.

    3. walking in warm sunshine
    4. avo on sourdough toast with bacon for tea yesterday as there was just me here. Sausage and cauli cheese today
    5. Cleaned the kitchen
    6. sent my latest scrawls to my supervisors, gave up shuffling words around and thought i'd leave it till i've had feedback
    7. My case study organisation said yes i could use them :T
    8. watched Broadchurch last night and waiting for the Replacement tonight
    9. having fun with DS - i got quite a lot of Minstrels out of it.:p
    10. had a bath watching the last Call the Midwife - they certainly threw everything at that :rotfl:

The non-pleasure is that i think my sore throat / tonsilitis / whatever has come back for a 3rd time..... :(

Oh, I'm so sorry to be late mhags. I hope that you, the children and Haggis are all ok.

VJsmum - your DS shares a birthday with me! Happy birthday to my birthday twin - albeit 20 years apart... :o

Pleasures for the week so far:

    1) Reading my book. I'm making a concerted effort to read for at least 20 minutes each night.

    2) Using up food from the freezer. Makes me feel a little virtuous!

    3) Mothers' Day card bought. I'm organised, for once!

    4) Payout from TopCashback. :j :j A happy day when that happens and it gets set to one side in my "subscriptions" pot.

    5) Paint charts! We need to freshen up the house, if we stand half a chance of selling it at some point.

  • 1) Magnolia stellata, that lovely spiky bloom on them looks so exotic and today I came across 2 different coloured ones next to each other in a garden, so exotic.

    2) a lovely swim this morning.

    3) 1 walk with Cookie and another walk with Maisie this afternoon, different routes and much enjoyment of the weather which was not too hot or too cold but comfy without a coat, lovely!

    4) Salmon and green veg stir fry for supper, most delicious.

    5) The first picking of rhubarb from the allotment, cooked it in the slow cooker and will sweeten it with stevia and enjoy the freshness for a few days as pudding.

Waves hello from the land of much heat. I'm so, so over the heat! No reprieve in sight!

It's Wednesday teatime but nothing planned for tea. There's plenty in the fridge to pick at.

Yesterday was got through. At the start of the day I had no idea how I would ever get through. My lovely FD called and asked if I wanted to come in again before hand to see how every thing was set out, I did. She has been so caring and attentive and I think if we'd met in different circumstances could be friends. She has made a difference to a difficult situation to make it a more bearable one. We have had as much time with my lovely OH as we have needed and it's never felt like an inconvenience.

Our Sydney friends flew down in the morning and they have both been a big support. 2 of OH's other Sydney colleagues ( also from UK) came with them. They had stopped off for cheesecakes on way!

Service was beautiful, many tears, much laughter and smiling too. DD1 had done a lovely photo power point from a baby to a man and all the fabulous bits in between.

We had a memory jar and asked our friends to write down their memories of OH.

We had time with OH after the service and after saying hello to everyone and then sending them back to our home. A friend had kindly came ahead and opened up and placed everything out. Table was all set and good to go but everything was in fridge , all she had to do was pipe cream on meringues.

I had made ...after a few early morning baking sessions whilst it was cool enough...empire biscuits, brownies, vanilla cupcakes, banana bread, lemon meringue cupcakes, meringues. Sausage rolls and sandwiches too. Friends had made biscuits ( Haggis may have eaten them..naughty dog), lemon slices snd hedgehog slices. And two cheesecakes. More than enough !

I had filled the laundry sink with ice and placed bottles in there to attempt to keep things cool. We arrived back in our chauffeur driven car ( quickest ride ever, we live 5 minutes drive away..and that's if the traffic lights are red! ) and it was a bit odd walking into your own house with a load of people all having a nice time! ( even though they are all friends! )

Whilst lovely to see them all it was lovely to say cheerio and to just be us. I find one couple quite pushy and she's all ' we loved him so much too' and I grimace a smile and think actually he found you a pain as do I! Anyway she has been unfriended on FB today ...had unfollowed her months ago as I don't share her approach to other people's religions. I had told OH as soon as funeral was over she'd be gone...shall work up to ditching her husband too ....don't follow him either as he shares the same opinion. Anyway, I politiey managed to avoid spending much time with them ! Was very glad to see the back of them!

I was so exhausted that I was sure I would sleep but I didnt. It was too hot and then of all things was too cold as the fan was blowing on me!

So a relief to get up.
Phoned my SIL and then friend. There will be another service tomorrow at our home church.

Walked as far as the post office to post some letters. Called into the florist to say thank you for the beautiful flowers they had supplied for the funeral. I had chosen specific flowers and I had chosen a bouquet to bring home with me. A traditional wreath would have died in the heat. So this way I get to enjoy these stunning flowers. I had chosen blue and whites for Scotland. These were sea holly ( as near to thistle as we can get ) , lisianthus , iris and large white roses and small budded white roses. Sunflowers to represent me and there were 2 diiferent kinds of banksia ( an Australian native ) and eucalyptus to represent Australia. It's a stunning bunch of flowers.

We got a mystery box of flowers yesterday, luckily just before we went out or they would have wilted. Lovely message but not a clue who they're from!
Have emailed the company ( online florist) but haven't heard anything! Mystery.

Kids went back to school / uni today. Get a sense of normality and routine back for them.

    Have a good Wednesday x
