Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Work came and went, including an extra 2 hours of training so it was dark when I got down to see the hens. :-(
3) Hens OK, asleep, with 1 egg.
4) Watched Holby.
5) Did a bed time quiz (used to be asked for these every night). It's hard to pitch questions that both of them will be able to answer. To the question "What do you call the area with Norway, Sweden etc?" there was a pause then bigger son said, "The Nether Regions?" :-D0 -
...which is The RIGHT Answer :-))))

My pleasures for today.
1. Fresh coffee
2. No work today.
3. Meeting friend for coffee & cake.
4. Home made spicy carrot & lentil soup.
5. Eyebrows threaded - painful but look much better.
Dfv my recipe for spicy carrot & lentil soup.
1 onion chopped
5 carrots chopped.
200g red lentils
1 medium sized potato
1.3 litres stock - I use 1 chicken stock cube & 1 veg stock cube.
2 to 3 cloves garlic.
Saute onions in melted butter in bottom of pan, add garlic then chopped carrots. Saut! for approx 5 mins. Add 1 teaspoon turmeric, 1.5 teaspoons medium curry powder & sprinkling mixed herbs. Add stock and stir. Add red lentils and potato chopped into small pieces. Season to taste. Can add more curry powder if you want a more spicy soup.Bring to boil then simmer till lentils, carrots and potatoes cooked. Usually leave mine on hob for about an hour, giving an occasional stir. If it becomes too thick - add more water.
Once cooked I use potato masher to mash to make a thicker soup rather than a blender.0 -
& Wow to your UGG boot find, I am going to keep an eye out myself I fancy trying some this year, they sound great.
For the past few days.
1. The household bills are paid for another month.
2. Went out armed with an offer for fence paint that they didn’t have do went around the corner to a builders merchants who kindly at least got close to the offer compared to what they were selling it for. Got back in and removed the remaining 3 fence panels and put the painted 4 panels back in. The remaining ones are all painted and drying in the garden. I have more garden plans tomorrow to finish it off. It looks fab I will put up before and after photo’s.:D
3. I forgot to food plan so it’s an emergency pasta bake tonight, and then I food planned through to Sunday.
4. Watching and recording Hocus Pocus, it would be rude not to…I can’t believe I have never seen it from the beginning before.:T
5. Had a call about a good sounding role so applied of course.
6. The rest of the fence panels are in, whoop whoop.
7. Early dinner tonight as another volunteer meeting, hunters chicken cooked and snaffled, and chicken for tomorrows korma and rice curry cooked up. The meeting was lovely totally livened up by sitting next to a 2ish year old for a few hours, wow so much energy it’s like a little Tasmanian devil.:rotfl:
8. Animal bedding all changed and washed, while changing it one had already moved into the pile of clean bedding and one chased me to the washing machine determined to have his dirty bedding.
9. Started going through my clothes, I have a white summer skirt to mend before it is packed away, a winter skirt that needs unpicking and new fabric, and another skirt I can’t remember what to do with!
10. Well its late but both DH and I are famished so about to have a HM chicken fillet sarnie, I know we aren’t supposed to eat after 8 or alikes but we will be awake with rumbling stomachs otherwise.:p:o0 -
wow to ugg boots &
we are introducing more unisex loos at the uni frith (and indeed all the loos in my house are unisex :rotfl:)
for yesterday:
1) noticing last year's poinsettia is going red. i have never managed that before. well chuffed
2) new lecturer started. i have met her before at conferences so i already know a bit about her. i showed her round, taking the opportunity to have a coffee with her and another colleague in the canteen
3) mr piano had taken his dog to the vet then onto his mum's so had to cook own supper. Quick rummage through the fridge - a very tasty penne with end of cream (best before 1st nov which was all the excuse i needed), onion, chilli, kale, sugar snaps and prawns. made 3 portions as needed today's lunch and a very quick to prepare supper. i think mr piano's talents in italian cooking are rubbing off on me
4) mr piano phoned to say his dog has ulcerated colitis. the good news is it's not contagious, it's mild and it could have been a lot worse. poor bertie
5) restful evening watching last episode of The Fall (ok that wasn't restful) and Cold Feet with 2 spaniels to keep the cold at bay
Sadly not a restful night as cat not at all well. it's old age so just really making her comfortable. suffice to say she slept like a log whereas i didn't.:(MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Just popping in to say hello. Day 3 post op and starting to feel slightly normal again, so thats probably my main pleasure.
I've not had surgery in 23 years ( thankfully) so it's been a bit of a shock to the system. It's been probably 23 years since I slept to midday like I did yesterday! I'd got up and had a shower and was so exhausted I slept till midday!
My OH is unfortunately not very well at the moment , which has been hard and I felt truly awful having to leave him to go for surgery, was slightly reassured when I spoke to him post op and girls came in to see me but he's been knocked for six by last week's chemo treatment in a way he never has already. We've been like 2 poorly bookends on the sofa asking each other if we are okay.
My lovely DD1 bought sweets for the people who couldn't trick or treat on Monday night. I thought this was very kind of her.
Waving to them from the 6th floor window as they were at the train station. I often look up from the train to see if anyone's looking out the hospital windows!
The kindess and friendliness of all ( bar one ) staff at the hospital. Makes a difference. From 'hello beautiful' from the surgeon as I was feeling at my most beautiful in gown and fetching red paper hat and blue paper shoes....to ...the kindness of someone looking for an alternative breakfast to hospital porridge for me!
Right, I am going to get up and see to my doggy. He's not quite understanding the 2 poorly parents thing that's going on. He's used to us having a more active role in his life!
Onwards....0 -

5 And it is not what you think, those engines suck! Start next week on another.
4 BoPsie has started work. She has gone all flingers and flumbs. Think that Raffles will be a tad caught out next week!
3 Gone inn on LieSter City. They won the premiership, disputes not paying their bills. Where as the Mariners never sought to do so!
2 Morrow off to big shop for new pants and things. More later. Don't worry, it will not be much.
Food waste recycling bins. Now in BoP's parish, we can spot those who waste their food and their money!0
