    Saturdays pleasures:

    1. Lie in, very much needed 😬
    2. Crumpets and peanut butter, slurp
    3. Trip to Bodiam Castle, lovely to explore such an old place. The talk about childbirth made me chuckle. During that period women in childbirth were both drunk and stoned due to drinking only alcohol as the water was dirty and taking opium 😂
    4. Pootle down the road to Hastings, spent a lovely evening on the beach, throwing ducks and drakes and finding pretty stones.
    5. Fish chips and mushy peas by the sea, can't beat it!

    Sunday:

    1. Scrambled egg on toast, sitting out under the scarce yellow ball of fire😬
    2. Washing hung out on the line.
    3. No where to go, no place to be. Quite content to mooch at mi casa today.
    4. Carbonara and salad for tea followed by rtc strawberries and squirty cream :T

    Enjoy your evening folks x

    Mix for the weekend:

    1. Up early, travelled and volunteered all day 13 hours in all, but we ended up by a river watching cygnets and ducklings all was well, the sun was mainly out. We treated ourselves to a burger it was pricey but a nice treat even though we had food we were hungry.:o
    2. I took food with us and food planned for the evening, as it’s been an expensive month, with more ahead, saving where we can.:money:
    3. Today a pork roast with all the trimmings was devoured.:T
    4. Talking to DB on the phone for an hour while peeling spuds etc. we didn’t sort the world out and barely caught up but chatted about not a lot.:rotfl:
    5. Watched the original 1961 101 Dalmatians and Charlotte’s web, a lazy day was needed.:)

Holidays are coming, holidays are coming ...and so much to blooming do between now and 5pm but hey...this time tomorrow we will be in Tasmania.it will probably be as cold and wet as here but we will be on holiday :) just hoping for a smooth crossing. 10.5 hours sailing.

So Deb is done ( I'm done in ) and it was ever such a palaver , I've blogged about it on my FB page if anyone's interested they can PM me. Lots of pics too.
Daughter looked lovely, husband very smart in his kilt and hey the best dressed mamma for less looked fine too. It was all a bit too over the top for me , lots of bowing and curtseying , girls in white dresses ( like wedding dresses, white elbow length gloves) boys in suits with tails, red waistcoats and cravats and then they had white gloves on..not sure why that freaked me out but it did.

DD2 was not allowed down the staircase because of hips but they got the biggest sympathy cheer all the way down the walkway! They did formal dances but to modern music. Dinner was for 400 guests but was a bit bland. Gnocchi with pumpkin pur!e and roast pumpkin to start , then I had chicken breast . They do this thing of alternative beef, chicken , beef, chicken around the table. Knowing this I had requested chicken. It again was quite bland. Then it was the most delicious lemon tart for pud. The alternative was sticky date pudding. The room was set out as if for a wedding and looked beautiful. Then it was the noisiest bloody disco being played and I felt like an old fart moaning but I wanted to chat with my friend and OH. We were shouting in each others ears to be heard. It was also quite chilly. And then it was all over and we got to come home. Straight to bed...well past my bedtime! Anyway, it's done , we never have to do it again and my stress levels can come down slightly.

All in the money spent could have paid for a return flight to UK. ....but who wants to spend 25 hours in a plane? A lot of organising went on and all credit to the band of mums who have given up their free time to do this. DD2 paid for half of her dress and her shoes and hair and make up. As one of the other mums said boys have it easy ( their suit hire was covered by initial cost) they just get a haircut!

It stayed dry , thankfully , but freezing. We went to one boys most fabulous house in the country , huge house, long driveway, massive back garden with pool but it was freezing. Boys all suited up and girls in flimsy white dress freezing.

I'd made soup yesterday morning that did us when we were running in and out and also made tablet ( Scottish sweet) to take on holiday.

Haggis Pants has had his one and only meal of the day as he's not allowed to eat after breakfast as he has a sailing to do! Poor thing...he's a Labrador , they just eat and eat and would eat more if they could. He will be starving! However , daily walks and swims in the sea will make up for it I'm sure .

I am, off course procrastinating , so much to do. So I'd better get on. Hopefully have wifi in cottage . Catch up when I can .

    Happy Wimbledon watching :)

I loved reading about your daughters deb party. Long white gloves and filmy white dresses. Oh my!
Boys with white gloves does sound a bit much but I'm sure they all looked wonderful in their finery.
    An experience of a lifetime.

A cabin! Beaches and sailing!! My lab would have been in heaven! Enjoy your time away!!
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

congrats dfv ds on head boy, and mhags dd on deb. fret not haggis pants food will be on its way soon...
so the weekend is done and i have 3 ulcers, a very sore tongue / throat and no voice. although the last might be nice for the world in general i am feeling very sorry for myself! so for 5 good things
    1) the community bbq saturday evening was good fun. although we did have some rain they were fast-moving showers, and lots of gazebos.
    2) mr piano entertained us as well as enjoying his pre-birthday celebrations
    3) mr piano stayed over, woke me up at 10 'are we going to church?' oops. we arrived in time for intercessions!
    4) then he and i came back to mine for lunch, thereby saving cost of meal out, and the washing was dry, saving cost of tumble drier
    5) spent afternoon listening to the radio, pottering, playing the piano (when mr piano had left), walking the dogs, mowing the lawn. bliss

  • No No No No No No No No. Crumpet and Peanut butter. Waste of a crumpet! Crumpets are for butter and Marmite! Nothing else would suffice in House of the BoP!

    Gosh and is only Monday!

5 Serious rubbing of tum this week, next fish pie is ready, well made yesterday! Just ready to be topped with tom and cracked pepper.
    2nsrqmg.jpg
And there is another ready for Wednesday. Not available in the emporium!
You know who wears the apron!

4 Getting ready for the big match today, in our new climate, this is the first real big test.
    Iceland vs Poundland
My money is on Belgium and the Germans!

3 So weeded the front and the plaza yesterday. Got the weed murderer out, not that one in the ready-mix from the emporium!, weeds wilted just on sniffing the BoP version! Checked the forecast, and no rain was due. Wrong. Someone was washing their car and the heavens opened! Blah!

2 Morrow BoP is in for slicing, to have his LAD kink sorted. Should be fun. Usual rule applies, it will hurt them more than it hurts me. Last time out, they tries tossing BoP off the trolley and the nurse got it full on. Lesson would have been learned! More later in the week!

The pitch looks perfect, now it has been re-laid!
  • 1) A lovely warm and sunny day for a change with a coastal breeze to keep us comfy.

    2) He Who Knows has fixed the cistern in the bathroom and it now stops running when it's full, hoorah!

    3) Dead heading the petunias in pots in the garden and planting my real tea bush in a sheltered bed by the greenhouse.

    4) WIMBLEDON!!!

    5) The lovely dustman took away the crown of the holly tree that we cut down yesterday, we have an early green waste collection and bless them, they actually offered to take the crown, super stuff!

    Hi,

I'd love to join in with this - getting bogged down with everything lately and need to remember that the world isn't against me!

    1. Coffee and dunking biscuits :heartpuls
    2. Phone call from my boyfriend
    3. Boyfriend making a start on stripping the wallpaper (he's an absolute gem!)
    4. Hair treatment used and my hair feels sooooo much better
    5. Game of Thrones later :D:D:D:D:D
