  • 1) The birds have found the feeders hung in the pruned buddleia bush in the back garden. Today we've had a flock of sparrows, a robin. 2 magpies and a jackdaw come to visit, lovely!

    2) Trip into town this morning to find peace and uncrowded shops now the schools have gone back, very civilised and mae finding what I needed so much easier.

    3) DD1 coming home tonight, tomorrow we've taking her to get her birthday present, a day long course learning how to shoot a Longbow, her idea of fun!

    4) DD2 and Son in Law heard last night that they had had their offer accepted on a really lovely house. They were beginning to get despondent as the market has been very slow this summer. Hopefully they will be in before Christmas, it even has a woodburner installed already and is in pretty good condition just needing some cosmetic changes to make it 'theirs'.

    5) Loved being a bit cooler today, in fact cool enough to feel the need for long sleeves and I've put the 2.5 tog duvet on the bed tonight, I was a bit chilly last night.....I LOVE IT!!!

I don't :( I really struggle at this time of year, knowing it's going to be a long while before the country sees real warmth again - especially as we haven't really had a summer. I shouldn't really as I am off to Singapore and Hong Kong in October and February so I am better off than most. Singapore, which is on the equator, simply never has winter - they have never had a temperature below 20 odd. Hong Kong occasionally gets to about 12 but no lower. I try to focus on the positives - wearing jeans and boots, coming home from work and going straight into jammies, I prefer autumn / winter food. Still rather it was warm and sunny though....

Any hoo - nothing we can do about it, so might as well get on..

DD - many happy returns of the day (I love this as a birthday wish - don't you? Many more and may they all be happy)
DforV - love the exchanges between your boys. Don't want an additional 16 year old do you? Cos mine is p!55!ing me off :rotfl: Love him really
    :rotfl:
Frith - hope first day back OK
Vicky - Monty still with us - going any day now though. (osprey)

Pleasures for a coupla three (midlands counting) days

    1. Graduation yesterday. harry potter robes galore and my hat stayed on - always good. i like to see "my babies" see the rewards of their efforts. Proud mummy twice a year.
    2. Pub afterwards - even better. "dry" september lasted 2 days - oops :o I will try for four weeks from Monday. A visit to dad this weekend is always better with a little lubrication
    3. Nice walks to and fro stations
    4. DD gone back to Sarfend for a few days - miss her but the pleasure is that she feels so happy to be there.
    5. DS started at sixth form. So far so good - he likes the subjects and has plenty of free periods so homework should get done without too much nagging. As a result of Ampersand's link to Celia Lashlie (Thank you so much Ampersand - it really resonated with me. i don't fare too bad but can sometimes be over ....protective? bearing? :p overdoing anyway.) anyhow due to that link, DS' challenge for this term is getting himself up. So far I haven't had to step in at the last minute - I don't know if i will actually let him be late. Time will tell - literally :p I have also said that i won't nag re homework - some work needs doing on that one, I fear :o
    6. Making do foodwise. Only £10 spent on groceries since Monday (until tonight) and stuff got used up and no-one starved :T
    7. A bit of normality now that September is here - i miss ice cream town or, more, the lack of stress that I feel when there, but I needed a bit of "grounding".
    8. Finished painting DDs furniture - the bookshelves aren't great, but they will do. I can restore some order to her room now.
    9. Laughs with colleague at work. I think we are going to be split up in the new arrangements, which is a shame in one way but probably for the best in terms of getting stuff done.:rotfl:
10 Hmm, I should round it up to 10.... Ooh, a Facebook exchange with someone who knew my mum and aunties. I know FB can be wicked at times, but things like that are just lovely.

Off to dads for the weekend, and hopefully out with some school friends tomorrow - have a goodun folks.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Been a bit hectic today.....

    1. washing done and out on line

    2. chilly morning but soon warmed up with some gardening. Its that autumnal time of year when creepy things start appearing so needed to get it done before they invade - had a few heart stopping moments but managed to get bagged up and in the car for trip to tip.....

    3. called in to post office on way to tip to send DS's medical forms to DVLA. Pleasure is they are gone.
Cant believe he's had a licence 3 years already (including provisional) - hope the renewal is straightforward and quick as there have been no changes

    4. ..... frantic phone call from DS whilst in post office he is going away for a display team event at 1.30pm not 5.30pm. Turned car around and drove home - emptied garden waste from car into forecourt - washing brought in and thankfully almost dry. 20 mins in tumble dryer for jeans, all ironed for DS getting home at 1pm. DS packed and left in his car to meet minibus

    5. garden waste loaded back into car - checked still secured and sealed bags so nothing could escape. Just about to set off when frantic phone call number 2 from DS.... no parking over weekend at minibus collection area - so he and friend drove back here and parked up. Boys unloaded garden waste (again!) and I drove them both to minibus rendezvous point..... the pleasure is they've now gone and no more frantic phone calls !!

    6. drove home again and picked up garden waste for final time - managed to get to tip at long last

    7. afternoon nap :o ... Needed it after all that

    8. watched Willow recorded a few weeks ago - was DS's fav film many moons ago.

    9. watching 8 out of 10 does countdown & last leg on later

10 its Friday ! Have a good weekend everyone x

    Belated happy birthday DD x

    1. Reading everyone's pleasures :)

    2. DD started Year 6 yesterday and had "the best day EVER!" and today was just the same, lol.

    3. Had a lazy day today, visiting 2 lovely libraries for a few more books for my class' topic and lots for DD's new WW2 topic. Getting excited at the prospect of going to some museums again, IWM and possibly Churchill war rooms - but the latter does seem rather expensive...

    4. Also had my own nails manicured, I am the proud owner of talons, as it were, rather than bitten stumps! :)

    5. Recently, I booked DD and I flights to Florida for next summer so that we can go and see Winter the dolphin with her prosthetic tail! Sooo excited :) Just need to save for the trips, the flights are kind of paid for, and the apartment I've found just outside Clearwater (yay!), but there's also Harry Potter excitement to fund as well!

    6. Going to a fab, free, folky music festival in our nearest town tomorrow.

    7. Have arranged a lovely weekend for DD and I with an old chum soon.

    8. Feeling nervous but also excited about being back at school next week. We have an Inset day then the hordes will descend :)

Good news about Florida, Kittikins! Our next holiday is slightly less exciting. Bigger son wants to see the Swiss army knife visitor's centre and make his own knife!

    Pleasures for today (Friday).

    1) Survived getting up at the crack of dawn. Not a good sleep.

    2) Work almost organised in places. Stunned by how many names I had forgotten (and this is just other staff members, not pupils!)

    3) Free lunch

    4) Sons had a nice time at my mum and dad's. It seems a lot of the day was filled with breathing in helium with my brother!

    5) Dropped some quiches off for my mum at the new vicar making ceremony thing locally. So pleased to learn he is Father Ted :-D

    6) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    7) Tasty stir fry for tea and a variation of fairy cakes later (cooked with jam in the centre).

    8) Enjoyed the Last Leg.

    9) In bed now with hwb and about to listen to Dead Ringers.

    10) Bit of a random pleasure but we are the only people who ever maintain the joint alleyway through the cottages and the little path that leads to the shared car park. Bigger son removed lots of turf and soil that had formed over part of the path last night. Came home today and someone has taken a strimmer to the brambles and nettles on the other side!

    11) Been doing some research about the former airfield where sons will be driving tomorrow and it looks very interesting. Also has an ancient church without electricity so will make sons look round there afterwards.

Making your own knife is amazing! Although I will be taking my dad, for his birthday present, to a gin distillery where we'll blend our own gin definitely a father daughter bonding experience!
  • DD1 did a bronze dagger casting course.....and still has the dagger she made, awesome stuff!
  • The Ferryman

The Ferryman was paid, but left the child.
The Ferryman needs paying, mother mild?
The Ferryman will take you, not by the arm
    The Ferryman only does harm
  • Fridays pleasures.

1.Few hours overtime added to the pot.
    2. Pootled off with hubby to car showroom to pick new car. Not very mse but quite vital as I'm not sure I can get the bus at 1 am much longer. I have a very scary 10 min walk in a very dark road. So happy to be able to jump in warm safe car and get home.
    3. Discovered some yummy cream cheese and jalapeño crisps in world food aisle lish:D
    4. My babies tucked up safe and warm in they're beds while so many struggle to find shelter and safety :o
    5. My bed. Best place in the world lol.
    SIMPLY BE-££577.11:eek:
    Very BNPL - £353.00:o

    Evening all. Almost bedtime again!
Some of my pleasures from the last few days.

Days off Wednesday....caught up on housework ( which is a pleasure for me)
Days off Thursday....at hospital for a big chunk of the day. Regular appointment and MRI scan ( I may have had a teeny snoozette whilst OH was being scanned) started a book. It's been a couple of months since I've actually read a book, think my concentration skills are quite low! Anyway, book has been read , enjoyed and finished.

Back to work yesterday , it was okay. Boss had been in UK briefly and I'd given him a shopping list, he's kindly bought me all I've asked ( mainly sweets for kids at Christmas time) and one of my favourite magazines ...so that's in lieu of laundry money this week....reckon I've won the deal on that one.

Work today, busy, exhausted and a weekend pay increase negotiated, discussed and agreed on.

So 2 down, 2 to go.
1 year ago today we went to visit our Haggis baby for the first time! He was just a bundle of gorgeousness, now he's a huge and handsome dog. Lovely boy!

    Have a great weekend
