Trying to stay positive, so here goes!
    1. got a new colouring book and found some pencils in a drawer
    2. coffee with friends in the sunshine earlier
    3. had a nice bath
    4. sorted out a pile of stuff for the charity shop and found one that i can drop things off at next time I can get a lift
    5. had some jelly before with homegrown raspberries

Well that was hard! It's good to focus on the good things, however small, so I'll try to do this everyday.

hello all. back from a conference (only in edinburgh but absolutely shattered) and listening to the now show with an oz reacting to last week's cricket. well lord's will certainly have cheered her up. so 5 for today
    1) went down to edinburgh aiport with xoh to pick up dd1's flatmate (dd1 was working) sat in mcd's waiting for phone call as short stay parking outrageously expensive after 15 mins
    2) total panic moment when i saw a toddler run out into carpark. according to xoh who had her back to the drama i expleted as i half jumped out of my seat then froze as toddler's dad dashed out scooping son, already in road, up. adrenalin flowed for some minutes after!
    3) dd1's flattie safely delivered to new flat, stoppng off en route at dd1's work to pick up key. it was dd1's 1/2 hour lunch break and we stoppd for a drink. one latte, one cappacino and a roibois £2.25. wow thats some staff discount!
    4) off to garden centre with mum and dd2. free tea vouchers, and plans in sale
    5) then off to see friend of dd2s whose mum climbed ben nevis to raise money for ms. she was diagnosed while back and, when she had to walk with a stick, decided to sign up for the gym and train for ben nevis. she's now walking without a stick, and puts me to shame with her energy!
delighted to be back in my own bed :-)

4 Just has fresh ice cream, with raspberries and strawberry home grown, washed down with lemonade. Othe drinks are available.

3 Hallway redecorated. Blue. Now for the curtains. Looking good.

2 Night for tea is smoked haddock kedgeree, with proper non Icelandic haddock. With parsley sprigs and toasted shrimps.

    Evening everyone :hello:

Manic week last week, culminating in the last day in my (now previous) school. Started to move a couple of boxes of my stuff into my new classroom! A little strange, having been there for 3 years, but new colleagues are all super so I'm sure I'll settle in well.

    Ok, so pleasures:

    1) Stewarded on a couple of evenings at a local arts festival, including seeing an encore screening of the ENO's Pirates of Penzance. Excellent - and free for me as a steward!

    2) Picked up a copy of a free local magazine. The male model, sporting clothes from local shops, turned out to be my Body Balance instructor. Wednesday's Body Balance class was mostly spent with me giggling at him and trying not to fall over!

    3) Bought some birthday cards for my stash in the Not on the High Street sale. Paid 75p per card, which I was impressed with! :j

    4) Finished two books. :j :j

    5) Spent yesterday afternoon catching up with a good friend, chatting and relaxing in the sun. Nice to be able to do that.

    Pleasures for today so far:

    1) A lie in!

    2) Bigger son went to a car boot sale and came back bearing more tools for his shed.

    3) Took a packed lunch to our nearest NT property and it was just the right weather to eat it in the orchard. I then sat on a bench in the sun and sons had a big walk round the lake, waving to me at intervals. :-)

    4) Big shop at Sainsburys.

    5) Went swimming for 1.5 hours! The summer school (it's a boarding school pool) had left the floats, water pistols etc out. :-)

    6) Looking forward to watching Humans later.

Also looking forward to the return of the builders tomorrow. The bathroom at the moment is just a toilet, brickwork or wooden framework (no plaster) and a tidy pile of tools!
  • 1) An unexpected invite to walk with my friend and her dog this afternoon, a lovely walk along a new to me route.

    2) Goldfinches in the trees in the garden twittering their little heads off.

    3) A text from DD1 and He Who Knows to say they'd landed safely in Norway and were walking to their hotel.

    4) House completely clean and tidy, ironing done and put away, gardens watered, lovely.

    5) Meeting two extremely friendly jack russell terriers in the woods and being licked and jumped on in sheer exuberance, they were lovely.

    1. Food shopping just for me for the first time ever in my life. Although I did put a spatula into my trolley from A!di Specialbuys for Dr C., as I didn't have a spare one to give him, and he won't think of buying one until he realises he hasn't got one. (Yeah, I know, I know. :o).

    2. Arrangements for tomorrow's funeral attendance sorted. An odd pleasure, but now I can relax knowing that I have a lift, and very good company too.

    3. Knowing the bathroom will still be clean when I go upstairs. Over many years Dr C. and myself have had many brisk discussions on this.

He firmly believes toilets clean themselves when they are flushed. :o:wall:My pointing out that it was the bog brush and parental elbow power that brought this state of affairs about was greeted with derision.

    4. Wilko's had Caustic Soda in again. Our bathroom pipework was incorrectly installed and reeks unless it gets a regular dose of this to clean it. Nothing else works as well. :D

    5. Peace and quiet in the house. I can put my new bits and pieces bought today in the bathroom and they will stay put. Dr C helped himself to some cleaning gear for his pad, unfortunately he took the extremely powerful Dettol mould and mildew remover spray. He sprays stuff liberally when cleaning, well, do it with that spray and you are on the deck choking . Luckily I remembered to warn him when he rang.

Bedtime in the land of much cold!

Madly busy day at work....4 down, 3 to go .

Got $125.60 commission for Saturday :) , makes the madness worthwhile.

Got the slightly later train in today ( by 10 mins) , means I don't have to stand outside the newsagents in the cold waiting till he opens! Means 10 more minutes at home and still free train trip. Stunning sunrise with the many , many eucalyptus trees silhouetted . Lovely!

Popped into salvos, one new to me quilt set...very spring like....I keep telling myself it's just around the corner! , a fabulous green coat and a lovely dress, which was half price....shall wear it on my day off! Nice chat with the manager.

Home and bath and jim jams and slipper socks on! Perfect!

    Have a lovely Monday....:)

I hope Dr C is getting on OK.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Builders here and 2 walls have plasterboard on now. They will be here at 8 tomorrow.

    3) Went to nearest town to kill time and because there was no toilet here all day! Got lots of library books out then went to the local museum and had a picnic in the park behind. Saw a cat and told sons "I bet that's the one belonging to my colleague". Walked out of the park and there she was!

    4) Did the charity shops and bigger son had some brand new Animal swimming shorts for £4 and some flippers!

    5) Went swimming with sons and my mum, for a change.

    6) Made "special" fried rice for tea.

    7) Smaller son made a tray of cornflake cakes.

    8) In bed now and about to listen to Clue.
