Oh skint, wish I could share my Fenboys with you - they'd swap 'good enough for a year or two' tyres free for you.

Frith - what a drama for you all. Wish the other matter for ss could have been rectified while he was out for the count. Wimbledon watching for recovery is perfect.

dd- read your 'was a brass band playing in the band stand', just as one began on r4 and it's even better, about a woman hearing one playing 'super trouper' in a rundown area of Kampala and what has lead from this. Great, great listening right now: 'Sarah Taylor visits this remarkable children's home in Kampala, Uganda-'

    1. ...so, more brass band on Sat. Couldn't drag self away from village/Church market thing where CSD Brass, over 30-strong, were playing. Fantastic open-air churchyard listening. We all guessed at C for Cambridge, but SD? ...=Surrounding Districts. Marvellous revelling sound and some strong orchestral pieces.

    2. Said Market village[not &'s] wandering was lovely, lots of fun and stalls and Hello's and gallumping not-very-grand National Races. Left reluctantly, collected the fridged 2a.m.-finished baking and raced to next thing. Could I find it? Gated streets, no entry solid metal gates were surprises to & within Cambridge. Could see the direction needed but not reach it[3 tries], until chap coming behind helped. Yes, access cars squeeze through into 1-way system, but road name mess meant more guesswork. Found house 2nd time round. Door answered. Nice man says 'Oh, these look wonderful. Are they for tomorrow?..........':o:o:o:o:o:o and one of these:mad:. Later read of invitation showed & sneaky date mention 'unnoticed', aherm, earlier. Was so certain it was Sat, didn't need to read that bit:p.

    3. Oh well, that meant onto another thing and back around midnight. Last w/e not helped by having 5 promised attendances both days. Did my best. By Sunday, very telling sermon[ref: latest horrors and Why's/How's] then back again for something else. En route to Sat's mistaken one, suddenly saw another I'd cancelled as impossible for Sat, was in fact on NOW. Sun. Local Hospice, judi - so did call in, always support them. No.1 happened too, just 24hrs later:D, and was such a good afternoon. 'so good, she came twice', becoming a Theme. We all needed the lift and meeting with new minds is excellent stuff for &.

    4. Yes - at least 2 blackbird babies are safely launched and constantly visiting with parents. Drip hose runs all day and they love being in and near, also stay still and look at me taking very close pics from a metre off. Perching is still clumsy on pot edges, but they can fly up to fence, into oak.

    5. Multi buspass use>Library and >drop-off bag of more rogue rasp. runners and strawbs tangled together. Town was in 5-hr gridlock after A14 accident, reason for crawl unknown at the time, but for &, timings there and back worked perfectly, aided by chatty droll driver who knew his passengers. New purple sunbed works very purply thankyou. Sun, wimbo, radio, books, birds, garden inspection - only one more scan before I can resume Spits life[necessary]. Bump def. much smaller and l-h.s.face merely dirty-looking now. So attractive:p.

Gentle times, safe families and furries, copable work+ offset paydays, os pleasures in abundance to all - every one a blessing.
mcc - I have a feeling there's an extra hug floating about. Have just given it a bump your way.
judi - nearly nearly nearly there:-)))))))))
mhags - this made me laugh: 'After massage went for another coffee with OH and I had some carrot cake.' Priorities, priorities - just right:-)

no.1 p.s. - &'s bottle tombola luck continues - fab. 2013 Chilean organic red maturing chez &squat as we speak.

  • 1) This lovely weather, warm, sunny summer, can't get better than this!

    2) Some lovely ripe stone fruit from the greengrocer for really reasonable prices.

    3) A visit from Charlie the retriever and his mum who popped in out of the blue to say hello this morning.

    4) Our village scarecrow competition which is being judged at the Festival in Saturday, many businesses have joined in the fun and quite a few homes (including us) have made one and we have a Rapunzel in a top window with an enormous plait that comes down to the ground, a brass band player with a tuba, a chef, a hawaiian hula dancer and our Percival who is in his pyjamas with a cup of coffee to name just few, really good fun!

    5) Our window boxes and tubs which are such a picture this year with petunias and lobelia and such a profusion of blooms and beautiful perfume, it's a pleasure to be near them.

Winter hibernation south of SparraLands. And the sun is out. Do take plenty of water there now Five r's!

5 Done crossword football on phone with BoPsie. Done. And last word was BOBCAT. I ask me!

4 Just turned charts and book in delegate room. Tesco finance. Put note up to say I spent 16 pence in their store this year. Maybe they should not leave door open!

3 Banana failure last two days. But tomorrow, we will be crunching and splitting them. In the meantime, wobbleades were consumed. Burp.

2 Morning. BoP will be on the stage. Well, meetings etc. and as we have righted the ship, there will be not listing. And no free lunch either, as BoP can deliver not only in style, but with a punch that knocks em off their rockers!

1 No good waiting for the number nine bus, the last one went an age ago. Then, suddenly, three come together!

And the ones BoP served at are still operational.

Hello from Wednesday evening in chilly Melbourne, it's been another nice day if you were wrapped up warm.

Slept ( badly...sore back!) until 8am, which is very unlike me....then realised I'd not heard son go out for work at 6.30am, so he'd slept on too but as he works for his dad it's not too big a deal!

Had a potter around , tidying this and that, watched Casualty.

Had porridge for breakfast....bleurgh! Kids and OH love it and I've been making it for OH every day last few weeks so thought I'd have some. It does fill you up.

Had cauliflower soup for lunch .

Went a couple of short dog walks with OH and Haggis.

Took a pile of read mags up to library, lifted out a paperback book in exchange.

On one of the dog walks we passed the Salvos and I saw a nice display cabinet in the window, so returned with a DD1 and her student card for 20% discount on a Wednesday. It's a rather pretty little cabinet with glass door that could be wall mounted , about 18" tall and with a wee polish its looking rather splendid sitting on top of the new to me blanket box. Also got a pair of jeans for me and a pair of trousers for DD1 , that were both half price.

DD1 made lovely egg sandwiches for tea with nice white bread from the bakers.

    Busy hospital day tomorrow !

Have a lovely Wednesday m frith I hope number 2 son is continuing to improve and Pk how wonderful that your dad called for a chat x
  • Winter hibernation continues South of SparraLands. Enjoy.

5 Last eve, hotel complex has talking wall. The one that no one bothers about. But this one was having an argument with itself. Looked round, couple of bricked in. Travelling salesman and young couple. No, they were not arguing. The talking wall was. In its ignorant bliss. It was as though you just wanted, not to butt in, but give it short thrift. Was some hospital thing. If that is the best TV can do, scrap the regressive tax.

4 That is that out right. May go home, POETS day early tomorrow, again and see if the valves fire up.

3 No, of curse you be careful this day as you know BoP is gone south for winter. Now be careful and wrap up well! Sits, wobbleades are ..

2 Night BoP is mostly warm.

1 The more you live, the more you learn!
  • 1) Just discovered one little yellow self sown pansy in the window box outside the lounge window, a survivor from last year, pretty!

    2) Watering with a hose instead of the watering can, it was just too hot to be in the polytunnel for too long today, might have watered my feet as well, Ohhhhh bliss.

    3) A walk across the common and along the footpaths with Charlie retriever and his mum as it cooled a little this evening.

    4) Some of today reading a new to me No1 Ladies Detective book by Alexander McCall Smith, time well spent.

    5) The nice cool shower I'm just off to take and be comfortable again, phew 'it a'int arf hot Mum!!!'
