    1. NSD

    2. NPD

    3. Daddykins took me, DD and bro to see a panto - it was fab, oh yes it was!!

    4. DD should (fingers crossed) be well enough to come home with me on Sunday - I have to go back that day with or without her, so prayers, candles lit and whatever that we will all agree that home is the best place - as I don't want her rushing back and then going downhill again like she did the last time...

    5. Cuddles and silliness when having another lie in this morning with DD :)

    1. Ran out of Stardrops so used a bit of washing powder in the water to wash the kitchen floor - it's come up much cleaner
    2. Made a chicken/veg curry in the sc, portioned into 8 for the freezer
    3. Did a stock take of the cupboards in prep for NY plan to do weekly menus (if it gets off the ground, I do like to eat what I fancy at the time, as long as it doesn't mean going out to buy something specially)
    4. Shopped for fruit/veg in Mr M, some good YS bargains including a boned leg of pork for £4 which I've cut into 11 steaks. I know it's not fruit or veg but I couldn't leave it for someone else to take, could I?
    5. Spend the evening prepping sprouts, parsnips, runners and swede for the freezer. Now it's full I'll stock take tomorrow, I'm sure there's enough for at least four weeks in there

    Hugs, sleep tight :)

    Good morning all !

Mcculloch - I thought Junior ran really well and the young jockey gave him a great ride . I am a sucker for a big chestnut colt/gelding:D

Its a funny race the King George , like the National , the same horses do well in it each year.Re riding styles - my old boss used to say of our Head Lad who rode badly "That he couldn't ride in the back of a cart with a pig net over it !" .I have never heard this saying before , but I know exactly what he meant ;)

Frith- maybe we should do a jumper swap then. It's a shame about your sisters OH's dog :(

    5 for yesterday

    1. Used B**ts gift cards for annual spend on hair dye.

    2. A huge clap of thunder prompted the Tiny Terrier to jump on Mum's lap for a cuddle. The lightning frazzled my cousin's router - he lives two doors away - our is ok, thankfully .

    3. My Aunt visited my DM and she had a coat on that had two pom poms on it - Tiny Terrier went straight for them as she thought they were tennis balls - Aunt nearly died laughing.

    4. I have a cold :( - got various bits for it using the B**ts voucher.

5.The hens (OH) got me some perfume as a belated Xmas gift."The Hens" usually write a card too, in childlike writing.

Have a good day all !

    .

That made me smile. (Along with the head lad's riding style!)
For a few years my then baby daughter "wrote in" regularly for requests to Forces Radio in a childlike hand.
Our guinea pig Maxie (the greatest cavy ever and a most wonderful character) would also "sign" the request by chewing off a corner of the letter.
The DJ she wrote to most regularly is now in his 70s and is one of my FB friends, still broadcasting on Internet radio.

Forgot to thank Oldtractor for the book title. Also TY for the PM on this.
Edit: Vicky A - thanks for the Clare Lomas link - the kids were lovely, genuinely in touch with her and completely 'got it', you could see.
How lovely for you to have cheered on a horse that you met, especially a star like Long Run. (I think I'd read he was "Lenny". Paul N.'s Neptune Collonges now competes in dressage under his stable name of "Nipper".)

I had a great evening with a friend who popped over for a chat.

I had a parcel come from Estonia this morning with a Christmas card and some Christmas sweets. I was thrilled. It cost my cousin a chunk of his income to send them to us - my brother got one and so did my sister.

There were some lovely stamps on the parcel. As mentioned, I have decorations from all over the world on my tree -plus quite a few I've made - so I made a decoration of two of the stamps.

Morning from the land of jetlag which I'm still residing in! Been up since 4 am. I don't seem to get past 4 am....but this is an improvement on 1am.

Some pleasures from Thursday and Friday:

Visit to the pantomime. It was excellent as always. So much Scottish humor, local humor using local dialect and jokes about local places/ people.
We just laughed from start to finish.

Visit from best friend and her daughter for tea......managed to put out a reasonable buffet without spending too much as we already had lots in that had not been eaten.

Meeting friends yesterday morning for a Friday scone ( yummy cheese and herb!) we had such a laugh and a wee tiny cry! It is so nice to be hugged by these friends who from afar supported me when OH was ill.

Dropping DD2 off with 10 friends for pizza , then they went ice skating and then she was having a sleepover at her best friends ....after going out to a ceilidh .....busy day. She just slotted back in with her friends ( as I suppose I do) but I know how hard a transition moving to Australia has been for her so it gladdens a mummy's heart to see her so happy.

DD1 met up with her 2 best friends and had lunch ( my treat for all their 16ths ) it was lovely for me to see them and I know DD had a nice time catching up with them.

Visiting one of my best friends this afternoon with OH and DS. Had a lovely afternoon, sitting with feet curled up under me on her sofa just chatting...just like normal!

An M and S chicken and leek pie ( one of my favourites) with RTC sprouts and carrots and mashed potatoes for tea. Very yummy.
I have eaten my own body weight ( so a considerable amount) in food in the past week.....it's very yummy but will be glad to get back to summer food and salads next weekend !

OH went out with his friends for dinner and I fell asleep on floor.......crawled on to sofa then announced I was going to bed....had hoped to watch TV but saw nothing!

So one week gone and only 5 tiny days left before we set off. It is lovely but such brief, snatched moments with family and friends and trying to see everyone we want to but to have a certain amount of ' down time' when we are just relaxing. I am tired , mix of jetlag, rushing round and I'm conscious of making sure OH doesn't get too tired.

Today will be brunch with friends and then my favourite aunt and uncle and cousin are visiting here with my mum. But they are coming here rather than us having to travel to see them. My niece and baby will also come this afternoon. Thanks to the kindness of friends we have lots of nice foods to offer them.

Have a great weekend. .....more rain forecast but take heart......it has poured in Melbourne all day too:)

Tee hee! or of mine when I'm really going with the flow! ;):)

Morning all, blowing a gale here and I'm feeling a bit odd, I finally, irrevocably, etc etc finished with OH yesterday - I know it is completely the right thing to do and I'm relieved I girded my loins to tell him that I want to be single, but after 2 years, it does feel odd. Unlike the first time I tried to say goodbye, I wasn't feeling angry or fed up with him, just ambivalent.......so that's how I knew it was the right time. I'm away at my parents, am not missing him in the slightest, kind of dreading his texts, and am looking forward to the future, whatever it may hold.

DD is also completely fine with it, I told her when we were out with my bro, and whilst I've said I'm sure he'll be happy to continue to be her friend, I got the impression, she couldn't care less :( (They had a strange relationship after the initial glow of getting to know each other, I used to get on edge trying to keep them both happy).

She's already talking of putting me on a dating website and having a quiet word with any new boyfriend about how lovely I am, and how to make me happy! Bless her.........but I'm perfectly happy with the prospect of no boyfriends for quite a while!

Sorry to hear that, Kittikins, but it sounds like you made the right decision. I had noticed OH was conspicuous by his absence. Hope you are OK.

Kittikins feeling the way you do, or not in fact, shows you've done the right thing for all of you. You and Miss K must come first and you couldn't go on walking on eggshells trying to keep everyone happy at your expense. Whatever happens will happen when the time is right, for now enjoy single life and your lovely little girl who sounds an absolute joy to be in the company of :)

mhags wow, posting at 5.30am, your body clock is all over the place! But I don't suppose you mind one bit, sounds like you're having the best time with family and friends :D

Having a very rare pamper day today, lots of lotions and potions lined up ready to work their miracles :rotfl: , just hope no-one comes to the door as I don't want to frighten the natives!

Back later, if I haven't dissolved under all the rather glitzy concoctions :D
  • Good morning all !

Kittikins - what is right for you is,..right ! You have had a lot of changes this year and seemed to have embraced them all , without becoming bitter and twisted like me :D

Frith - well done to your DM - to recover so well from that nasty op.!

Mcculloch - nice posts. Boy, you are going to miss that Xmas tree! It's funny how they get so personalised. My DM has a fairy on hers that is 53 years old , the same age as my oldest sister and the tree lights from when she got married which is longer than 53 years of course ;) Not sure about H&S issues regarding the lights , but I love them.

    5 for yesterday

    1. £25 restaurant vouchers arrived- a goodwill gesture for the appalling service.

    2. My utility direct debits have decreased by £28 per month , having just had the meter read .

    3. Heavy cold ,vile but I think will only be a 24- 48 hour one .

    4. DM bought a 36 piece Indian snack selection - I shall give this to my brother for New Years Eve,so we can all share this.

    5. Da Vinci Code - I always fall asleep through this but made it yesterday.

Have a good day all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
