1. Good day at work, lovely colleague was there again, so we had a good natter and put the world to rights
2. Listening to the Matilda musical CD
3. DD was very pleased with photos I printed out of our trip to the paralympics that are going to Brownies for making into a collage
4. Great vouchers in Waitro$e magazines I picked up today, free almond chocolate milk, makes my mouth water to think of it....slurp!
5. No rain! (not quite the same as sunshine....but better than nowt!)
6. Lots of little children calling out "Hello Mrs Kittikins" when I went to pick DD up from school, am really missing the place....hope I can go back soon. I've also chatted to one of the teachers I helped with to ask her if she'd give some feedback on me to the Deputy Head as I need to ask for a reference for my application form, and she was lovely about it, and nicely cheeky
7. Looking forward to working from home and catching up with some flipping housework (well, not that part!) as the house is a flipping tip and it's starting to get me down and we've got a busy weekend planned so want to break the back of it before next week!
8. A friend at work has offered me a microscope for DD, as she knows she loves science and wants to be a doctor0 -
Here are my 5 or so for today so far. Wednesday already!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Boys off to school quite happily.
3) Builder round to give me a quote. What a creepy man! He won't be doing the work. :-/ Then phoned another builder who sounds much more normal and will pop in over the next few days.
4) Brother's barn conversion is supposed to be getting the electricity connected today! He has done all the work himself over about 2 years.
5) Cleaned the bathroom and washed nearly all the floors.
6) Meeting with smaller son's teacher about the trip I am going on with his class tomorrow. (I have to provide the 1 to 1 care they say he needs. I do wonder if they think he always gets 1 to 1 care at home - he never does with bigger son etc here!)
7) Watched Holby City on iplayer and thought it was a fantastic episode.
8) Healthy eating is ongoing. Porridge, blueberries and a banana for breakfast, left over mushroom goulash and a bit of baguette for lunch then chicken curry for tea followed by blackberrry and apple crumble and custard.
That's about it! One more note - ex MrB has wiped both my sons so they are no longer his FB friends. I won't be doing that to his older son who wrote to me last night. Compare to MrN who popped round to teach sons some karate moves in the garden. Much to their delight and I must say there are worse things to watch standing on your doorstep.
Hope you're OK, PK.0 -
MrB is being a right to$$er isn't he......finishing things by text then unfriending, you're well shot of him! But sounds like there's a thawing between you and MrN, interesting.....
Thanks for the Holby recommendation, it's so exciting to have a computer that I can finally watch i-player on. I'm trying to persuade DD that we can get rid of the TV licence and use i-player, but she's not 100% convinced, and knowing my luck, we'd get rid of it, and they'd change the rules so you'd need a licence to watch at any time, on any platform!0 -
Good evening all !
Frith - what can I say ? He needs to grow up and grow a pair ! Pleeeeaaase no jumping from the frying pan back in to the fire -Mr N couldn't make his mind up either !There are plenty of other letters in the alphabet - ....;)
Your brother sounds a real gem btw, but then you know that x
PK - I hope that all is well ?
5 for today
1. Formal 1:1 supervision went well - discussed my "reasonable adjustments " . no problems this time
2. Took half a day flexi:D Still have 5 hours to take left .
3. Put washing out at 2.30pm and it dried- the sun was hot here
4.CCP - got the try it for free quorn cheque back - not enough for a Porsche but every little 'elps .
5. OH was tasked to collect my prescription and some Cliniq*e in B**ts to get the 1000 thingy. He got the wrong stuff so went back into town to change it . Funny as my skin loves the Value 11p Mr. T baby lotion - OH had mistakenly got me an overpriced Cliniq*e cleansing milk . The little sweetie managed to get a load of free samples as he said we were going on holiday and they were the just the right sizeCheeky
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all.
PK - I hope things are looking up by now.
goldenpony - welcome! You'll definitely find yourself amongst friends here, particularly with a username like that!
5 for yesterday:- Woke up a bit earlier than normal so I had time to make the scrambled eggs I fancied for breakfast. (It's just a shame they proved to be some of the most flavourless eggs I've ever eaten - most disappointing.
)
- Drove to the supermarket during my lunch break - it was so nice to be able to pick up a few bits that were on special offer without worrying about how I was going to get them home.
- Not very OS of me, but I turned the heating on briefly before having a shower, so I could step out into a nice warm bathroom.
- Remembered a pack of posh mozzarella (bought on SO, of course
) in the fridge only a day after its use by date - I've found before that it goes off very quickly so I was pleased to have caught it in time. I had it on toast with some chorizo - sort of a lazy pizza, and very tasty indeed.
- Telling my pub quiz team mates a story about a seriously irritating department at work and making them all laugh - it's nice to know it's not just me who thinks they're being ridiculous!
- A very kind PM from another OSer - I love this forum! :smileyhea
- NSD.
- Popped to the bank at lunchtime to set up a new savings account, and the adviser told me I was her favourite type of customer as I kept making her laugh.
- I've finally got the refund from my energy company - a nice round £350, which was slightly more than I was expecting.
- Dinner from the freezer tonight - it's getting increasingly empty and I might be able to give it a much-needed defrost soon.
Have a lovely evening, all.
ETA
4.CCP - got the try it for free quorn cheque back - not enough for a Porsche but every little 'elps .
Humph, as my sister might say - I never got mine.Back after a very long break!0 - Woke up a bit earlier than normal so I had time to make the scrambled eggs I fancied for breakfast. (It's just a shame they proved to be some of the most flavourless eggs I've ever eaten - most disappointing.

Evening everyone. PK am thinking of you and sending hugs - I hope everything's OK. Today has been a little bit better (so far, still a few hours to go!) but still could be better. Thanks for the hugs - you've brought a smile to my face and a little tear to my eye.
So, some pleasures. Let's see...:
1. Went to see my Mum, Dad & Sister, and spent a few pleasant hours there.
2. Have got some bits of housework done - ironing sorted, bedding changed, etc.
3. Have given myself a mini facial. Cleansed using a very warm flannel, toned, and moisturised. I'm using it as me-time, and trying to take care of myself a bit better.
4. Mum gave me a wedge of chicken & ham pie as it wouldn't get eaten there. It definitely will at mine!
5. I'm eating more fruit & veg. I'm snacking on carrots and a few almonds, dried dates and am drinking plenty of water. Trying to see if sorting out diet will sort out some of my mood issues!
Well, I'm feeling a little more positive today and am now sat with my feet up watching the Great British Food Revival about strawberries. I loved watching GBBO yesterday though and can't wait for the final! ampersand I like James. I hope he wins.
CCP - ohh, that impromptu pizza sounds gorgeous
Chicken - what a sweetie your OH is! My skin can't taken clinique but samples are awesome! I'm currently using up Avon stuff but love the botanics from B0ots.
Have a lovely evening, everyone.
KB xxTrying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.0 -

1) 25 years marriage how can that be for a same sex couple i hear you ask? lol but very happy to have made it this far
2) banana on toast for breakfast

4) got a mention on classic fm, and they played the lark ascending -my SIL played it at our wedding (she's a professional violinist)

Evening, wow I’m overwhelmed by all of the kind wishes on here.:) I’m feeling emotional tonight, there were glimmers of him, and then some amazing rambling.:( hoping he starts to respond tomorrow. Still today was an improvement on last night.
We got in late, I made a meal for under a £1 but out of habit not realising, it was the faggots and 4p mushy peas, perhaps not nutritionally wonderful but hot.
Found out I have never seen Bonds Living Daylights, loved watching it.
I will be better after some sleep, sorry will be more positive tomorrow:o0 -
(((PK ))) whatever are you apologising for?! Really no need to do that, everyone understands you're hardly going to be writing reams and have far, far more important things to think about
Frith be careful not to go from the frying pan back into the fire, the right one is out there somewhere for you, just not next door
TILAMS???
1. Had a tough work out this morning, upped all weights, speeds etc., and felt so much better for it. The fact that I almost had to crawl up the stairs just now is neither here nor there
2. Came home and cleared out the fridge to make a big veggie moussaka, now portioned into six and frozen
3. Turned a box of cheapo bran flakes something more interesting by going through the larder and adding a pack of almost out-of-date chopped, dried apricots, a bag of almonds smashed with the rolling pin, a good tip of dried raisins, a cup of porridge oats and a crumbled pack of rye ryvita which I didn't like. Mixed the whole lot in the washing up bowl and it filled two boxes so enough breakfast cereal for a few weeks. Tried a small bowl with sk milk, it's really very nice - and the larder is a lot tidier
4. Attacked my trousers! Tried on every pair and put aside 7 pairs, which are now too big, for the cs. Only leaves me 13 pairs so I'll have to buy some more, can't have an odd number in the wardrobe
5. Completed two surveys on different sites to give me £15 L2S vouchers and £10 Am@zon vouchers. SiL will be having the Am@zon ones for the C word, I've got quite a few saved up for him so he can add to his cd/dvd collections
Stay/get well, sleep tight0 -
PK Thoughts are with you.
Fell asleep this afternoon, as I was awake early and was out in the sunshine cycling and shopping... still awake now.
A collection, as ever.
1. Waiting in for parcel on glorious autumn day and having it arrive early.
2. Catching ham and soft cheese before they went too OOD and making two large pasta bakes, one now in freezer.
3. Repairing a favourite cycling jacket so it is good for another year. Repair involved rethreading thick drawstring through small eyelet and pushing it through hem. Solution? Fix tiny safety pin to drawstring and stitch drawstring in place with invisible thread.
4. Managing to a) find end of invisible thread and b) thread it through needle.
5. Good new book to read free from Amazon Vine. Mike Dilger's My Garden and Other Animals (an odd coincidence with Clare Balding's new book having a similar title). Mike Dilger is the wildlife guy on the One Show. It's a bit longwinded at times, but contains lots of great info on the wildlife we have all around us.
6. No headwind to cycle into today. That happens very rarely lately.
Frith, Soulmates... I had an ad in the very first Grauniad Soulmates in 1995. I got swamped. Met some really nice people, one or two oddballs. Not used anything like that in years. I landed myself with a £250 phone bill for the quarter... (in 1995!).
The one I went out with though (from Soulmates in 1995), was someone I had already met briefly a few weeks previously. He leapt out of a taxi and ran up to me with a smile when I was waiting at a bus stop, before realising that I wasn't a friend of his.
As we lived 25 miles apart I thought that coincidence was quite impressive.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
