Consumer Credit Services?

This is my first post so please excuse me if i'm not following a standard format / layout etc.

I got a call this afternoon from a company called Consumer Credit Services (CCS) based in Llaneli, Wales. As I understand they are a company who claim back bank charges and payment protection charges on your behalf from the banks etc.

After a relatively quick and surprisingly painless conversation they tallied up what they roughly estimated they could claim back from previous loans and charges etc. which was quite considerable. The catch was that it would cost £199.00 to process the claim etc (Although this could also be claimed back and the service would effectively be at no cost).

They also mentioned that I would be fully refunded should the claim not be followed through or not be worth proceeding with.

Being very sceptical I asked them to email me their details so I could check them out myself, which they have done. They've sent me an email detailing their company reg, claim regulation license number and other government regulation bumpf which all seems to check out (to me as a regular Joe Bloggs anyway).

Long story short has anyone heard of them or similar companies? and are they legit? and how can I find out for certain if they are legit?

Their web is: c-c-s.co.uk (WWW.)

PS. I'm not naive by any stretch and wouldn't usually entertain people like this but having looked into them a little I can't see anything obviously untoward.

Thanks for your time!

    Hello there.;)

Not sure on these to be honest, but you can with the help from this site do this absolutely free with a cost of a few stamps, and you get to keep all your money if successful.

I personally not heard of them myself, unless someone else have, I'm sure they will post and give their opinions on this, good luck.

Don't use them. Do it yourself using this site and save yourself £200. Plus what they say you could get back may not be anywhere close to what you are actually entitled to.
  • I got a phone call from this company and at first wasnt convinced i should be handing £200 over the phone. The sales advisor pointed me to their website where i found all sorts of numbers and licenses which i checked out and they did check out with the ministry of justice.

I gave them the money and waited after 14 days i was informed i didnt have a claim and the money was refunded straight back into my account.
  • I paid them £199.99 back at the end of February but then immediately cancelled when I read the small print in their paperwork. I am still awaiting a refund of the money and their advisors have been evasive and, on occasion, aggressive to me. I have since had to get Welsh Trading Standards involved who are investigating many similar complaints against the company but, in the meantime, I will have to take them to the small claims court. Avoid this company at all costs. There is also a facebook group warning people to avoid them along with a couple of forums on 'freeindex'.
  • Also, The Ministry of Justice have been keeping in touch with the Trading Standards preliminary investigations and, if the refunds are not processed, will consider revoking their authorisation - source: Trading Standards. I will post when I hear more from Trading Standards. It might also be worth writing a letter of complaint to The Ministry of Justice for continuing to allow CCS to have a valid authorisation code. They likely won't have for long. I feel pretty stupid for having fallen for the scam - the first time something like this has happened - but I am taking this all the way to the courts even if it is only £199.99. It's the principle and these people have essentially just stolen from so many people.
  • Hi. Just an update I found on this company. According to companies house, they are listed as "active - proposal to strike" So I assume they will not be around too much longer.

I have also been harassed by this company. It looks like they are about to be struck off again.

As a new user I cannot post links but check out the CCS listen on Companies in the UK or put the following link into your browser and remove the gaps.
