I was paid as normal but only due to the fact that our first 3 days off sick are fully paid then it goes on to ssp.

Actually, this is quite relevant to how they recorded the day.

If this bank holiday occured in the middle of your sickness period (but on day 2 or 3), and they are not paying you for it, then surely the next working day you had off would be counted as a new sickness, which you would then get full pay for again?

thus they should also either pay you for the bank holiday, or mark it down as holiday (not sickness).
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Very commendable indeed. Pulling scams like the one you are attempting to do will lead you to lose your job and the queues at the dole offices are increasing daily.
If you are very rarely off sick why are you so concerned about one day?
You've been rumbled and you don't like it, ha ha :p

I already answered your question. I want the best record possible so that one day could result in an unsuccessful application.

I think I understand what you're getting at, but I think we are missing some information.

Were you actually scheduled to work the bank holiday on this occasion? If you were, then the day would count as Sick. If you weren't, it may well depend on your employer's policy. Many large companies have a "Sickness While on Annual Leave" policy, which defines how such cases will be treated.

For example, it wouldn't be unusual for them to ask to see a Doctor's certificate (even if you were beneath the self-cert limit) to prove that you were actually ill while you were on holiday. If this weren't the case there would be nothing to prevent every employee coming back from 2 weeks' hols and claiming they'd actually been poorly for half of it so want their holiday days back.

I was scheduled to work that day and because the whole period of sickness was longer than 7 days it was covered by a doctors certificate.

Oh is it the poor little girl womens lib thing now that you have been caught out trying to pull a quick one?

My, some people have no sense of humour do they happyholly?

I haven't been offensive in anyway at all, I merely answered your question BUT because the TRUTH was not to your liking you are trying to twist things.

p.s. have you got any sickness entiltment left?
  • I was off sick with flu just after xmas last year and was off over the new year bank holiday. Now I get paid for bank holidays but do not normally work them, they are added to my annual leave entitlement if you get what I mean. But even though I was certified off sick for the bank holiday, I was not then entitled to have that day back at another time, even though I didn't get the benefit of the bank holiday as I was ill.

I think that if you are sick, you are sick, irrespective of when it falls unfortunately, unless it falls when you are on booked leave where you are usually allowed to book your leave to another time.

Plus if like me the bank holiday fell during your period of sickness, the only way to get round this would be to resume fit to work and then be off sick again which would do more damage to your sick record as then this would be recorded as two periods of sickness.

I really woould just put it behind you

Again I seem to be repeating myself with you. It was longer than one day and if I should have one less day on my sickness record then it should be changed.
