Got a tour around microsoft from Bill Gates then told him he had been there and seen more of his company than he has seen any of his own.

Seems like a really good guy and not stuck up his own !!!! or cockey like alot would be with his riches.

Yep, it was an exellent program, it was strange how humble and down to earth he was, from the battered old car to the ancient CRT 14" TV in his office. And he's not planning to leave any of his billions to his children as an inheritance, he's giving it all to charity - seems pretty harsh

Although he will leave most of his money to charity, he will leave some to his children and those that are close to him.

He was quoted as saying he believes in the philosophy - "that a very rich person should leave his kids enough to do anything but not enough to do nothing".

  • Seems to match his general motivation of playing the game for the sake of the game rather then the money, wouldnt be much of a dad if he couldnt pass that on

He has tens of billions. He can leave 99.9% of that to charity & still leave his children tens of milliions.

(not a comment on what he should do BTW, I couldn't care less how he spends his dough).

FWIW although I like WB I'm certain he's well aware of his image which is very definitely a part of his appeal. I suspect his incredibly modest office + small TV are at least partly to cement the image he puts across. I wonder how big his telly at home is :)
