  • received the £20 cashback straight into the online saver account on 21 July.

Not bad 'interest' for £500 savings under 2 months :D

I have closed the account in July after receiving the cashback. Now the offer is back again for £20 M&S vouchers to open the same account.
T & Cs doesn't say anything about new customers only, so hopefully I can have another bite at this.

Hi guys I still have not got round to closing this account down. This is the second month (I think) and I still have not had any interest paid into my account. Has any one had any interest on this account yet or is it just me?
  • I applied over the recent bank holiday weekend. I have my welcome letter from hsbc but no mention of the £20 m&s vouchers.
Does anyone have a screenshot of the recent offer please?
If you're really sweet, you could send me a pm perhaps... :A
  • This is what the T & C said: (I had it saved on pdf)

Bank Holiday Offer Terms and Conditions
    1. Successful applicants will receive £20 worth of Marks and Spencer vouchers. Use of
the vouchers may be subject to terms and conditions. There is no cash alternative
    available.
    2. In order to be eligible for the voucher offer;
    • you must submit an application for an Online Saver or a Credit Card online between
    12.01am BST Friday 25th August 2006 and 11.59 pm BST Monday 28th August 2006,
    and
    • such application must subsequently be accepted by us, and
    • the account must have been opened, all account opening formalities must have been
completed and any cancellation period applicable to the product must have expired
    before 6th October 2006.
    3. You will only be entitled to receive one set of vouchers in respect of each type of
account regardless of how many accounts of that type you apply for during the offer
period. This means a maximum of two lots of vouchers worth £20 each are available per
    applicant in total.
    4. Successful applicants will receive their vouchers via post by 31st October 2006.

I opened my account on 25 Aug, had 36p interest deposited on 1 Sep.

You haven't withdrawn anything from the account? - the big 'gotcha' is that they pay no interest for the entire month even if you only withdraw 1p.

Only other thing I can think of is that you can nominate another account to receive the interest. I've had one for a few months and interest has always shown up on the 1st of each month (in my current account).
  • I asked them on the phone about the interest and it is definitely supposed to go in on the 1st, provided you've not withdrawn over the previous calendar month.

Did you ask for the interest be paid into a different account when opening the account?

I did - so no interest entries appear on my Online Saver statement.

Instead in my other account I get a entry which says:

01 SEPT ADDED NET INT FOR ACCOUNT NO 40xxxx xxxxxxxx (my online saver a/c no)

Did you manage to get it second time round? I'm planning on opening the online saver again to take advantage of this month's offer, and I only want to do it if I know it'll work.

The M&S vouchers are due by the end of this month so noone has probably got them yet.

When HSBC first ran the £20 offer @ Easter, they paid cash and left it until just before their deadline in the T&C's to credit accounts with it..

Yeah, I got that £20 and then closed the account. Does anyone know whether I would get the £20 a second time if I applied for £20 offer again?
