Finally spoke to LLoyds today and it was blocked "because it was for a large betting transaction"
The amount was for £400 to William Hill, who I have been depositing with from my Lloyds account at least 50 times in the last 2 years with amounts ranging from £10 - £2000.
Not exactly a suspicious transaction for even the dimmest of Lloyds fraud staff.
Oh well its unblocked for now, until they next decide that I am not allowed to spend my own money again.
I actually asked if I could remove my account from VBV, and was told "VBV insures that the cardholder, and only the cardholder is making the online payment" LOLOLOLOLOL0 -

And if your account was wrongly accessed, would you be straight on here criticising them for not having enough security procedures?Male.

I hate VBV personally. I wouldnt mind it if it was optional, but it's forced on you. In the case of nationwide, having to use capital letters and numbers in the password and having to be a certain length means i always forget the password, because it's longer than my normal one.
Doubly annoying is that when I first forgot my password and changed it, i found you can't use previously used passwords. It's my security so why can't I set my passwords how I bloody well want?

Currenlty it is optional for those firms who decide to use it but Im told it will become compulsory shortly
We use online payments at work & since we switched to it we have had no false payments with stolen cards. Before we were getting 3 or 4 a week.
When customers have problems its always down to them forgetting thier new password.
Gnever take advice from broke or unsuccessful people

Set up the security password. It worked, Then the next day, I had trouble using my card. The card was declined everytime I wanted to use it ( which freaked me out) but when I went to withdraw cash, it was fine. Took ages to get them to sort it out.
I understand it is for added security but it doesn't half freak you out when the card declines, (thinking) signing up for the VERIFIED BY VISA meant that you had somehow signed up to have all your bank account emptied out.0 -
Nat west is getting as bad. Went to add new accounts to the payment page(so can pay by bank transfer) wont let me until I ask for their perishing card reader. Can't think how this would help for a bank to bank transfer. Moreover we do not use a credit/debit card for this account and do not want one either.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Ive got no problems using my A&L Visa Debit, my Cap 1 Visa Credit or either of my Electron cards (Halifax and Co-Op) with VbV but Im told trying to pay online with an Abbey card is a nightmare - my mate cant use her Abbey Visa Electron online at all as its not compatible or something - is is a problem peculiar to Abbey cards?*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

Obervation: On the face of it VbV seems okay. But then again so did Chip & PIN until victims of PIN based fraud ended up being held liable for 'allegedly' being carless with their PIN.
Could the same be happening with VbV? i.e the Cardholder being held liable if someone uses their card details and password?0 -

In both those cases, its because when your "normal" password you apparently use everywhere according to your first paragraph gets compromised, it's less likely to also be your VBV password.
Having said that, NW's scheme is a very clumsy and awful implementation of security so I'm not defending what they ended up doing, just saying I can see why they started driving down that road in the first place. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
