Tell us here on this thread.. .. ..When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -

Also if you believe the MM site, you'd think that Sue who started the magazine is still doing it - my understanding is she sold it years ago, but the website doesn't read like that. Afterall with all the other businesses they run, can you really believe she spends time walking the streets posting magazines through doors? But it looks all lovely and cosy on the site though doesn't it!
Sue is the wife of the owner of Best Of..and she quit the mymag thing yonks ago after having made her money from selling franchises, I don't think she works now as hubby is making all the money.0 -

I worked at a printers once and the local Chamber of Commerce magazine was closing down so there was a joint venture put together. Using the CoC memberlist, the printers would print a whole new local business magazine. The CoC would get 4 free pages in the middle. The existing advertisers could be contacted to place their adverts in the new glossy A4 magazine, with a potential readership of about 10x the previous membership.
The advertisers didn't want to do it, saw the change as being a good way to stop advertising. Others said "I'll see how it goes, want to see a few copies first".
The mags were printed for free, with a nominal "at cost" figure being put down on paper... after 6 months it still hadn't broken even. The designers were in-house and so again working "for free" with a nominal amount for their costs written down to tot up costs.
The cost of mailing the mags to every local business was a bit of a crippler too.... had to print off labels, stick those onto plastic magazine bags and stick those down by hand. All this was done "for free" by us staying late and going in on a Saturday.
Really, for the publication, the area was too poor and there were too few local businesses to make it work though, so it wasn't the idea that was wrong, but the area.0 -

The website is misleading though.

Under a picture of Sue and her 4 kids it says
"Me and my children on holiday in Barbados. Whilst Fabian (youngest) isn't much help with the magazine, the others all get involved in different ways making it a real family business!"
And also
"
It was breakfast time, one Monday morning in mid–2003. Amidst the usual chaos I had an idea! I dropped the boys at school and hurried home, full of excitement. With my daughter happily painting in the kitchen I began to scribble down my thoughts and map out what would need to be done. I felt sure this would work but even in the euphoria of that morning, I never imagined that it would be so successful, so quickly.
Within six weeks of that Monday morning I had generated over £1,750 of profit. Every month since I have earned more than £2,000 profit."
Now wouldn't you think from reading those comments that Sue still produces a magazine every month?Make £2025 in 2025
