Sorry if i've overlooked this on any other thread, however I just need a bit of advice/help.
Interested in changing to BT for my broadband (currently with AOL) and it would appear their modem has a home hub phone incorporated into it. Now is this phone purely an internet phone, or can i use it as my normal house phone too?? I am currently with BT for my phone calls.
Have looked on BT's website and its not very clear to me, have also tried searching on here, however again there are so many threads that this info could be hidden within, i'm getting confused.
Thanks and sorry for being alittle dumb...:o

I have this hub phone and it can be used like a normal phone, in fact my calls are free on this after 6 at night.0

It's basically a 2nd phoneline with another number.0

If you have BT broadband talk it runs over the broadband and is like a second phone line with a separate number. (make sure you ask for a geographical number and not an 05xxx number)
When dialing out press 5 to overide and the calls go over your normal landline.0 -

Sorry to butt in on this, I am getting one of these, so I understand it has another number, but can I use the phone in place of the handset I have???

I have a tripe DECT system as my standard landline phone and a twin DECT system plugged into my router on the VOIP 'line' (which has another geographical number).
However, as the VOIP 'line' only gives me free calls evenings and weekends, that's the only time it gets used for outgoing callsTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Hi james, sorry to be a pain, but one more Q, can I receive calls on it that should be going through my landline????? ie normal number????
yes they automatically have a divert set up on it so that the calls come through to youReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. I tried to divert mine but it doesn't work. I don't get calls on my hub from anyone but family (we all have the number on our mobiles) but it never redirects to my normal house phone - it's always the hub phone that rings.
I didn't know you could ask for a regional number either - mine starts with 05 too.
I never press 5 before a call either, and it still goes on my bill. I don't understand it much and i've had it for a couple of years!0 -

that beacasue your using a house phone as well as the hub phoneso the divert is disabled if you were just using the hub it would automaticlly divert your house calls to it as well
you can set it up so that house calls go on the hub go into the hub settings (ask bt customer care for help) and theres a sn option in there to set up the divertReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected.
