Trying to switch but not sure...

Southern electric have increased my direct monthly debit from £60 to £97:eek:for electricity and left it at £60 for gas,(general saver) so looking on money supermarket and first:utility looks good but it says 32/34p per day standing charge where as the southern electric that I am on now says 0.00 standing charge daily but the elect for SE is standard energy 11.52 per day and the first direct is 7.46 with a saving of over £400 per year duel fuel, so should I be worried about the daily standard charge will that all add up and not get a saving? Should I switch? Will SE charge me for switching?
What does unit rates 1/2/3 mean? What should I look for? Is it just that their per unit is cheaper? Is that enough or is there hidden stuff I should be wary of?

Tariffs are horrendously complex.
As you have found, some have daily standing cahrges, some have 2 tier rates.
But there are lost of other things that affect prices too, e.g. discounts for duel fuel, payment by DD, prompt payment, paperless billing...etc.
It certainly isn't a case of just looking for the lowest unit charge.
