cancelling orange contract
Options
I have 3 months till to run on my orange contract, and because locally the signal is so poor I am planning to go back to T Mobile and get a fab new G2 phone (HTC Hero), I presume Orange will only charge me the outstanding 3 months, will they issue a pac as soon as payment is made, so I can move my number to my new provider?

Yep they will, they will probably also try and keep you as a customer and offer you a typically very good deal too.0

You can request a PAC code at any time but it is valid for only 30 days, and when used it cancels your contract. So to avoid any cancellation fees, you should request your PAC code in the last couple of weeks, then get a new contract and use your PAC code roughly in time with your old contract coming to an end.
And yes, generally asking for a PAC code will get retentions to phone you, but obviously they aren't going to build a new mast just for you, so it will be a tough sell for them.
If you do not renew, cancel in writing (30 days notice) or use the PAC code within 30 days, your old contract will become a 30 day rolling contract.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
