I have just taken delivery of the ecocamel showerhead as promoted by seventrent water... have used it now for the last couple of days and am really impressed, it is slightly noiser that conventional showerheads but I was expecting that already, I never got round to measuring litres per minute with the old showerhead but there is a noticable difference in the amount of water being used .I put the bath plug in and looked how much had been used... its a new shower system as well so had done this when it was installed as it felt I was using a lot of water as compared to the very old electric shower we used to have. Anyway there is a huge (although not scientifically measured) difference in water consumption and although I am not on a water meter I hope that this translates into a small reduction in gas useage...oh yes it also feels pretty good to shower under but not as soft as I expected to be honest (was expecting the champagne feel that other showerheads had talked about ??hansgrohe but that was around £80 for the showerhead as opposed to £26 and not watermark (?is that right) approved
I would reccomend the ecomcamel to anyone interested in reducing water consumption (either for cost of environmental reasons)

    Hi everyone

I've been reading this thread with interest as I am interested in reducing my water usage as well has saving the pennies, like most people.

I am interested in the eco camel shower head, but I've emailed the company to check that it would be suitable for me. I use a standard mixer bath/shower equipment and live on the top floor of a 3 storey block with a condensing boiler. The water pressure is quite strong so I guess the shower head would be approprate, but I want to be sure before I buy it.

I'm strongly leaning towards buying the tapmagic products also, but I'll think about it a while longer.

I cant see that this would be a problem, we use ours with a condensing cobi boiler but in a house, if the pressure seems good then i think it would be ok. just dont think you can use on electic showers or low pressure showers (not sure if there are any other exclusions). You could try the bucket technique mentioned above to see if you have enough litres per min before buying. But you could also get and send back if not good enough, the site does not mention the distance selling regs but it only comes wrapped in bubble wrap type wrapper so cant see how they would know if you had used it to try it out, or give them a call on 0844 88 88 339 and see what they have to say

  • Having read the threads on this website I also took the plunge and invested in the EcoCamel showerhead two weeks ago.

Thank you for recommending it as it's a great product and I can't believe I'm saving so much water. When I tested my old showerhead I discovered that I was running at about 16 litres a minute and now I'm running at 8 litres.

With a family of five the shower is in regular use so I'm looking forward to seeing how much this saves me on my next water and gas bill.

I'd never heard of EcoCamel before so thanks for sharing this great tip.
  • I'm glad you like the product, I have had mine for over 3 months and it still works well and I'm happy with the savings.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:
  • Well its a good start people but remember that you only spend a small amount of time in the shower.

What about the sinks in your property?
You can also get Aeratedtap attachments for them which will save you even more.

Interesting thread. Just read the ad. in the Daily Mail and notice that it only mentions savings on water and gas. We have an electric shower and I would like to be sure that the Ecocamel would be suitable.

I dont think that these can be used with eletricshowers, we used to have an electric shower but were advised that these were not suitable (although a couple of companies suggested they were ok but these seemed to be companies that just resold them and didnt really know), when we had our bathroom done we took the opportunity to get the shower changed and replaced the supplied head with the ecocamel and have been very impressed although the water flow is not as "soft" or "champagne like" as I thought it was going to be but in hindsight that is probably for the best. Does seem to save water and must save money because of this. To make sure I would call the ecocamel team but I am certain that you cant use it I am afraid :-(
