hi all,
i need a bit of advice for hubby.
long story short he ordered a new phone/contract on thursday phone arrived on sat due to post strike.but it wouldnt ring out only saying he had no credit? today he recieved a text to say his bill was ready and it was £267!! i freaked because basically we dont have this money, and its to come out of the bank direct debit 8th nov.
he rang and was told as he is a new customer they have placed a deposit for using phone abroad=£150 and one incase he rings abroad=£100 so total deposit £250 !! they said they can lock international calling and roaming now hes not sure if the guy said this will remove the deposit but the bill is done and its due out beg nov. nowhere in any confirmation email he got did it mention deposits nor anything in post with phone. this was the first he knew through text.
he is furious as am i and to be honest i told him tosend the thing back
i cant cancel the dd as it is a new one and they dont show on the system until the first payment is requested
any help really would be useful as im devastated with this as 250 quid is an awful lot to us and we simply cant pay this.

Someone messed up at t-mob by not telling you about the roaming deposit that's why its been put onto the bill, call them and ask for int calls to be barred, the deposit will be removed from your bill. Make sure you take the name and team number of the agent you speak to for comeback. The ammount on the direct debit can be modified up to 7 working days prior to it being taken from your account.0

Sounds like you have took a contract out on the next flext price plan - call t-mobile and ask them to disable the Roaming and international call options from the price plan - then adjust your account with £250. This will have to be done b4 the direct debit is request though which is 7 days before the arranged payment date. Once your husbands credit score improves with t-mobile above and average score then you can re-activate these features without the need of a deposit. Your husband should have been made fully awre of the deposit required0

thanks to all who have replied.
the tariff he is onis combi 20, not flext but he has rung and they have barred the roaming ect and im sure he said the guy had said it would put hisbill right but he immediatly emailed also to back it up. the only thing i can do is cancel the direct debit once it goes out and ask that it is returned back i know this will cause problems but if they do try to take the huge amount of money it will put us into being short for the month. so will have to wait and see.self confessed 80's throwback:D
