Porting number to other account on same network

Hi,

I have a 30 day notice SIM only account with Orange.

I would like to start an additional 18 month contract and port the number on to that. Is that possible? I would be taking out the new contract immediately but not porting the number until January.

Alternatively i can port the number to a PAYG sim on another network for the crossover period and then port it back in January.

You can't port to the same network using a pac code, its what's called a backdoor upgrade and none of the networks allow it.
So, yes you'll need to port to another network and then port back to Orange.

only if your still in contract

Yeah, if you're in contract they'll change you to the end of your minimum term as using the pac end the contract. If you're out of your minimum term then it's free.

If you contact Orange and request them to cancel the 30 day contract and at the same time, to put the number on to PAYG, you should easily be able to transfer the number from PAYG to contract.

You could have a problem talking out the contract now and trying to transfer the number onto the contract once it is up and running.
