Hi,
Im looking for a bot of advice.
Im going to America for 3 weeks in July.(im just really excited already)
Im going to be travelling around, including orlando, new york, grand canyon, niagra falls and possibly California.
First question is
1) is there anywhere else anyone would recommend?
2) Im also planning on going to Vancouver/toronto for a few days. any ideas about travelling
3) does anyone know of any cheap plane tickets for tours? or any other way of getting around these areas?
is this even the right area to post?
thanks loads

try southwest.com for flights within the US - the further out you book the better prices and you don't get penalised for 1-way flights.
If you're going to the Grand Canyon and tacking on a visit to California - I'd add Vegas to the list. Then again, I'd add Vegas to almost any list so I'm a bit biased.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

If East - NY, Niagara, Toronto, Florida etc
West - LA (even though I hate it), San Fran, Napa Valley,Seattle, Vancouver, Vegas (goes without saying), San Diego etc
Check out prices. Like said before Southwest seem to be as good as value as anyone and have lots of destinations..0 -
You don't want to spend your whole holiday in the air/on the road/on the train so I'd definitely second the idea of limiting your destinations. Maybe try to work out how long you'd like in each place and see how long it'll take to travel between places. North America is a pretty big place!0

Agreed!
We just came back from Orlando and we went for a week ( no kids, just 2 adults) Ive been before- it was not long enough if anyting we could have done a month just in florida, there really is so much to see and do. Likewise, I tihnk New York needs a week, all my mates that have been for 3 days say that.
We didnt go to Grand Canyon when we visited Vegas, as it was winter and snowed. You sohuldnt ahve any problems. You can do a half day fly to se it out of Las Vegas- if you want to see it with an time there ( we do, we will definately do at least one full day hike- youve got a 5 hour drive from Vegas - and overnighting etc, - realistically we reckon on it taking out 5 days of our holiday - so we saved it for another time. . A week was about right for vegas IMO we are not big gamblers but the surrounding area, you could spend months there IMO.
Personally I think you are trying to fit WAYY too much in :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
NYC definitely needs 5 days at least if youve not been b4.
A few companies do day trips out of NYC up to Niagara falls ususally using Jetblue.com, the low cost internal airline.0 -
Personally I think that 3 weeks is enough time for the destinations suggested. Sure, there will be travel time between, but if planned well, it's do-able. Not everyone wants to do every single thing there is to do in each place in one trip...even with (for example) 5 nights in NY, an overnight trip to Niagra Falls from NY, 5 nights in Orlando, 5 nights in Vegas, an overnight trip to the GC from Vegas and 4-5 nights in California you're just about 3 weeks...and personally I don't think you have to stay that long in NY or Orlando (or Vegas for that matter)...so it really seems perfectly reasonable to me. No, you won't be able to completely 'do' any one place, but a reasonable taster of each I would think. If you don't mind the fact that you won't be able to settle in any one place very long (so won't necessarily get to switch-off and relax completely), it's workable.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

im not really bothered about settling in any place. I want to try and cram as much as possible in before everything else starts up again.
Im honestly not too bothered about las vegas.
the things I am thinking of doing ( and i know i wont be able to see all of it) is disney world, universal studios and the space station plus possibly sea world in orlando.
New york would be shopping with the helicopter ride and see the statue of liberty.
Niagra falls(a day trip)
California, not sure how long, grand canyon. Maybe travel to vancouver/toronto (not sure now)0 -
also one other problem.
Im going for 7 weeks in total so am going to have a fair amount of luggage.
Any ideas how to transport all of this between airlines?0 -

You might not be too bothered about Vegas, but other than Flagstaff its probalby the natural place to start the journey to the Canyon.
Let me tell you in 7 days in orlando we did
Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure ( 1.5) days
Sea world
Magic Kindom although we did not have time for any of the water parks, just MK, DHS and Epcot.
We didnt go to CC as we prefer to go to Busch gardens.
We squeezed in Wet & Wild on the morning we left although didnt have time to go on everything.
We just got back so there were ABSOLUTELY no queues in Orlando whatsoever, wlaked on every single ride. We met a couple who said they had been earlier in the summer and often waited 45 minutes for each ride. Think about it.
Cape Canaveral; is a day Id say although many people stay over either side of it. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
