Hi
My husband is a self employed plasterer and I bought him a Samsung Solid Extreme phone for use at work due to its durable nature....however its crap!! He's only had it a couple of months and had been replaced twice as it is cutting out on a regular basis (ie during most phone calls - no good for business). It was bought through buymobilephones.net who have been helpful and relplaced the handset. Now it is outside their 28 day policy as outlined in thier T&C's - they said we now have to take it up with Samsung. My husband rang them the other day and they said to send the phone in and they would repair it and hopefuuly send it back within 10 working days. Personally I do not think this is acceotable, how can my husband be without his phone for 10 days when trying to run a small business. Their product is not fit for purpose but they don't seem to want to help!! Any suggesions?
Thanks for any thoughts

try consumer direct
Having said that if he is self-employed I would have thought he would be better off having a contract as the cost could be claimed against tax as a legitimate business expense, given that, as a sole trader he will need to be contactable whan he is not at base...
If it has been replaced twice then each time he gets a new phone THAT surely would start a new 28 day period...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Did you buy it on pay as you go or contract?
If contract, the network MIGHT be able to help. If PAYG you've got a battle ahead of you, I'd just go to Samsung tbh.0 -
Thanks for your replies. The phone was bought as a contract with Orange. I've sent a letter of complaint to Samsung but I'm not hopeful. I will try cosumer direct also, thanks.0

Orange might be able to send it for repair on your behalf and give you a loan phone in the process via one of their retail stores - they might not but it's worth a call to their Customer Service department to see what their policy is.
If it's on a consumer contract and you're using it for business don't tell their customer service that you need it urgently because you're running a business with it because they won't care - I know I didn't at O2!0 -
I've just looked at consumer direct, this is what they say - "Remember, if you are entitled to a refund, replacement, repair or compensation, it is the trader who must sort out your problem. The trader cannot tell you to go back to the manufacturer or to claim through a guarantee or warranty"
I'm going to try buymobilephones.net again as they said to contact samsung!.
I have a feeling I'll be passed between the two!0
