negotiating a new deal with broadband provider (aol)

has any one had a successful negotiation with aol. our 18 month contract has come to an end for wireless broadband (have been with them for years before that)

dad doesnt particually want the hassell of changing provider (though will if necessary)

they called him up the other week offering a deal of 6.99 for 3 months if we go back onto another contract and then 14.99 thereafter.

however looking at their website new customers have a 4.99 for 3 months deal and 14.99 there after.

what would the chances of them agreeing to match this?? or for example if we aske for the 6.99 but for 6 months instead of 3

if they declined, we would probably consider asking for a mac migration code and going elsewhere (more likely to orange), just wondering if its worth a go


i should mention we also have aol talk for phone calls as well

On a 18m contract that is an average of £13.66pm, which isn't that wonderful.
Certainly would not recomend switching to Orange.
Main question is: what exchange are you on and what LLU services can you get on that exchange?-these will be the best deals.
If it's available LLU, then TalkTalk Essentials is likely to be your cheapest deal at £6.49 for broadband and weekend and evening calls incl. The CS is terrible, but since you're already on AOL it should be no worse, since it's all under CPW.
But if there are other LLU options (O2?)then you should look at these too.

thanks we are not very good with these things, according to http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/CMKING our exchange is kings norton and the LLU list is:

AOL
O2
C&W/Bulldog
Orange
Sky/Easynet
Talk Talk

You have a great LLU selection there, but the obvious one to go for is O2. You can get the standard Home service for £7.34 pm with the O2 mobile discount, or a fiver more without. Currently offering first 3 months free (offer ends 31/10) and £50 Quidco cashback. So with all those options you pay a first year average of £1.36pm and a much better service than AOL or TT.
