    Hi,

I have read through that thread. All everyone seems to moan about is that the company contacts you 2 weeks before one of your nominated dates and that the airports are very far away from where they live so they have to decline. We know this and are preapared for both situations to get the holiday - we don't mind.

This is linked to a company in Exeter.

You must have missed the posts from people who accepted the holiday offered only to have Sugar Reef weasel out of it somehow and the posts from people who ended up having to pay for their accomodation due to some sort of loophole in the T&Cs. And the posts about the additional insurance/transfer/incidental charges that people get hit with that makes it not so cheap after all.

Have you seen the full T&Cs yet? Are they completely, 100% clear without any room for interpretation that could go against you? My guess is that they're not and while you may very well intend to abide by them, it will be nearly impossible if they choose to find a way out of their side.

It sounds to me like you and 3 others may effectively be locking up the better part (if not all) of your holiday time for the next year in order to accomodate a holiday that may or may not happen. Will you be OK with it if the first sets of 3 dates go by with nothing and then the 4th is fast approaching? Potentially meaning that you won't go away at all for a year (unless you decide to book something last minute to match the dates you've previously booked off work)?

I couldn't bear to sit back and wait to see if a holiday materialises and end up disappointed, potentially repeatedly, and scrabbling around at the last minute to see if we can find something we're happy with because we were unable to plan ahead much at all because we were waiting for a 'cheap' holiday to come our way.

Maybe I'm just a control freak - but holiday time is pretty precious to me- I couldn't leave it up to chance and with a group that's skirting the boundaries of the law.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

What was the name of the promotions firm ? You cannot have forgotten so soon.

People are trying to help you.

    Hi,

The promotional firm was something like "World Wide Travel" and when we went to the timeshare presentation, it was in Warwickshire near ahtton. They called themselves the Shakespeare something company and specialised in Canal Boats

I think i've posted the additional charges - it's £40 per person. And we realise we'll need transport to the resort, we'll hire a car.

I haven't found any post where people have met the T&C's and ended up paying for the Accomadation. It does say quite clearly that if you do not attend the presentation when in the resort, you will be charged.

I will post a copy of the full T&C's tonight for you all - might take a while to write though!

Think that is where the saying' Do Not Touch with a Bargepole' comes from !!!!!!!

Getting back to Sugar Reef. Their website is still under construction and surprise , surprise their address is in Exeter!!!!
    3rd Floor
    57 High St.
    Exeter.
    Devon
    EX43DJ

This is probably a firm which has had different identities over the years.

Have you been on the 'Holiday Watchdog' forum yet ?
Plenty of complaints on there about them.
  • Too many variables are missing to call this a good deal. Allied this to the fact that the people running it have a vested interest in the transaction - they want your cash.

For perhaps £100 more you could get an all-in deal departing from East Midlands or Birmingham airport to a hotel you specify and on the dates you specify.

The 'value' implied would quickly evaporate if you're departing from Glasgow or Bristol to a cheap resort.

Seems to me the business plan is to get people out there at cost price (or a small loss) and run the sales there. Much like women, people are more favourable to an approach once they're on holiday :)

My unequivocal advice is: don't do it.

Have you factored in the cost of getting to Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow from Coventry if the outward bound flight is from one of those airports?

    Good point to mention.

I'm Quite lucky in the fact I have a company car that is fully expensed so isn't really a problem.

I could not really imagine driving to aberdeen, thats a good 16-18 hour drive at a guess from the midlands. Other option is a nice overnight train.

I always thought about one of these options, but im a man that cant really say no under pressure, or the wife will think its a good idea and sign us all away.

Reminds me of buying the car, i wanted the car for less, whilst i was away at toilet, the wife had made an offer & struck a deal with the salesman for me to return from the toilet to find him finishing the paperwork.

    Buyer beware..
