Its not a bad park but one thing I would say is watch your change in the bars & shops etc. We had problems way too many times for it to happen by chanceAha, so thats how you do a signature!0

Supermum, I have been to Craig Tara (about 2 years ago) and also loads of other Haven and non-Haven caravan parks.
To be honest I wouldn't say it was better or worse than any other.
When we were there it was one of the chalets we were in and it was spotless.
We just used it as a base and used very little of the facilities. Didn't go to the pub/club place as I am too much of a tightwad to pay their prices!
I am pretty sure there are frequent buses from there into Ayr which if the weather is good there is the beach and a huge park next to that to go to.
There is also the swimming pool there which is good fun but dunno ages of your kids so dunno how practical this would be.
Try not to be put off. I always think a holiday is what you make it.0 -
We stayed in one of their chalets a couple of years ago, it was unbelievably dirty - dirty ashtrays, burnt toast in the grill, windows covered in god knows what, empty drinks bottles in the cupboards, a dirty facecloth in the shower and a huge big scab on the floor of the shower. It took hours to book in, the pool closes at 5 o'clock, most other rides etc have to be paid for. The kids night time entertainment didn't start until after 9 although it was quite good. We ordered a travel cot for our baby which they didn't deliver until half seven that night. I complained and got a voucher for a free weekend in one of their caravans which was much better and used it as a base to go elsewhere, it was cheaper to take the kids to louden castle for the day than to constantly shell out money in craig tara.0

We went at Easter for a week because I got an incredible deal £153 for half board for me and 4 children.
You can walk into or back from Ayr along the beach (when the tides out) there is a lovely play area off Ayr beach for the children.
I found mine are all a bit old for Haven now, the youngest is 10, the best thing we did was the archery and fencing they hadn't had it set up and organised and as it was in the brochure I spoke to manager and he got the coach to put it on for us, we had done this at other parks and children really enjoyed it, even better as they did it free for us as guinea pigs. The sports coach was excellent and if they have the ATR organised that would probably be pretty good.
I got into the club early to play bingo which meant we had good seats for the caberet (which was the worst I'd ever seen) but I did win bingo two nights running totalling £250. I played what I thought were good odds not many people playing and most with 1 or 2 books, it was expensive though £14 for 6 books but paid off.
As we were half board we seemed to spend a lot of time heading to or from the restaurant (crap food). I'm not sure what we did to fill in our days, we had a football and used the all weather courts a bit, and took the kite out, as well as a couple of trips into Ayr.
Two of the children had birthdays while we there and we went to the farm next door for one of them, which was great but expensive as mine wanted to do the quad bikes, i think it was about £20 for a family then £5/8 for the bikes. We went to louden castle for the other I took some money off vouchers from Craig Tara reception and it was still about £70 and I thought it very poor value for money.
In the evening I gave the children £2.50 each which they spent as slowly as they could in the slot machines, then we'd have 1 or 2 drinks in the bar, I took barcardi in a water bottle and bought their extortionate coke @ £1.70 a glass.
All in all it was OK, and the holiday is what you make of it, but more because of my children's ages (and having been spoilt with Florida holidays) I can't see myself on a Haven holiday again. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -
went here last summer and i thought it was great for the kids. we booked a gold caravan which was absolutely fabulous, although heard from lots of people there if you go half board the food and the rooms aren't up to much.0
