Eon rep FixOnline 3
Hi I have just changed to FixOnline 3 from SaveOnline Standing Charge as although the costs work out almost the same, because of the extra 4.1% discount I will save about £52 per year.
However FixOnline 3 has an exit penalty of £30.
What happens if in 6 months time Eon brings out another tariff that is cheaper for me and I want to change to it, will I still be charged the exit penalty of £30?
Patrick

Good Question I am also wondering the same.0 -
nope, i think the £30 penalty only applies if you are leaving e-on completely, no charge to change to another eon tarriff, think thats correct but im sure someone will be able to confirm for sure0

Sorry Lesley_Allan - we went around this in detail on another thread a few weeks ago. The T's & C's for FixOnline 3 are clear that the exit charge is payable if you either leave E-ON for another supplier before 1/12/10 OR change to another E-ON tariff before 1/12/10.
This was eventually confirmed by the E-ON rep.
The only possible exeption is maybe the last month or so before 1/12/10 when they could allow a change to another tariff without charge, but this is not confirmed and would be at their discretion (they did waive the exit fees for people on old fixed tariffs that expired recently).
So, by signing up to FixOnlone 3 we are gambling £30 that we won't be wanting to change tariff for the next 13 months or so.........
P.S. I have taken that gamble.0 -

I've been searching for that thread but so far have only come across the following one which says no charge for switching between tariffs

I may go for it anyway as my saving would be £84 over the year.0 -
Hi guys,
Thanks Colin_London for answering this one, everything you’ve said is spot on. :T
Recently cancellation fees have been waived, but this was in the past.
My advice again to anyone looking at the FixOnline tariffs, is be prepared to pay the cancellation fee if you change tariff before the end date. If you don’t want a cancellation fee that may apply this isn’t the tariff for you.
Thanks for posting the link Gambler.

FixOnline tariff 4 has now come out, with a greater online discount than FixOnline 3. I want to change to the new and cheaper tariff. Rang Eon to enquire whether the £30 change tariff penalty would apply. They said they didn't know, because they had not been informed yet. Perhaps the penalty fee will not be charged.Does anyone know?0

i'm with eon saveonline v14,are the new fix online tarrifs cheaper, cause i can never work them out0
-
The difference between FixOnline 3 and 4 is a better 14.2% online discount for Online 4 and 13% for 3, the fixed period for Online 4 is now to 1st Feb 2011 and was Dec 2010 for 3.
Electricity and Gas unit prices are exactly the same for both.
For me switching from Online 3 to 4 would save me £15.00 per year, so its not worth me switching unless they waive the £30 charge.
Has anyone tried switching from Online 3 to 4 on the Eon website to see if a £30 charge warning comes up ? I was going to try but thought the better of it in case it just allows me to switch but get 'stung' with the switching charge on my next bill !!0
