3 Mobile Broadband

Hi has anyone had any problems with 3 mobile broadband. I have been paying for a contract for my daughter but the damn thing has hardly ever worked in the areas she has lived in, even though the map shows "good" coverage. I have tried to cancel before the term was up because it was so rubbish, but was not allowed. I have now given notice but don't want to pay any more money as I feel they have had a lot for giving me no service. Any advice anyone? Please.......!

What model of modem are you using? A lot of the "stick" type modems are rubbish, I use a Huawei E220 with the double USB lead that comes with it and it works a treat!0

if it was bought recently it would be a ZTE MF627 ive heard that they recieve a lower strength signal than the Huawei dongles, and people having problems connecting with them, alot of people have returned them and got a Huawei as a replacement, so 3 must be aware of problems with that make of dongle.
i dont think you have any grounds to get out of the contract because they and all other networks dont guarantee coverage.
I dont have a problen with my signal from 3, mainly because i live fairly close (around 2 miles) to one of their masts, ive been doing speed tests this last week at various times of the day and im averaging 2.29mb/s which i think is great seemings on my landline broadband im only getting just under 2mb/s0 -
I have found my 3 dongle to be next to useless in lots of places, strangely though i have linked my Nokia E71 (also on the 3 network) to my laptop and used it as a modem in the same places and got better coverage.
I phoned to cancel my contract this week and they said the newer dongles are much better and are sending me a newer one to try. I will try it out of curiosity but will cancel anyway as there is no point paying extra for something i can get through my phone on my £5 internet bolt on.
Before anyone points it out i know officially using the phone as a modem using the £5 bolt on is technically against their rules but i have done it regularly and my useage summary always says ' sorry there has been no data useage on this phone'
No real need for them to apologize
WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
Yes, we have had nothing but trouble from 3, we were told by the sales assistant at the time of purchase, that the area had great coverage. My husband's contract is due to be up for renewal soon and we have just cut our losses and sent a cancellation letter. For the benefit of others on Military establishments, there coverage is rubbish.0

I have a Huawei E156G. I get coverage in limited areas. Do you know how this dongle compares with yours (E220)? Also what does a double Usb lead look like?0 -
Thanks jclegs. I will have to think about getting one.0

I have just got a MF627 on 3 and the signal is very unreliable. Sometimes OK for as long as I need it (typicaly in evening) other times up and down within seconds and no good at all for me. I've got a monthly contract so no big deal cancelling it. However I want it to work (it's all I've got !) so has anyone tried an additional antenna ? Also is there real evidence around that the 627 is c**p ?0

Stupid question....... where does the 2nd USB lead go ? Does it occupy 2 USB slots !!!???0
