New Zealand - e mail on phone - UK contract or buy a mobile out there?
I am going to New Zealand for a month in December and want to upgrade my phone for e mail access, but it has been suggested that it would be better to buy a sim locally for perhaps pay as you go to access e mail for one month. I would then buy a mobile and unlock before I go. Is this the best way to go? I'm not very technical so please don't use too many technical terms!!! :rotfl:

terized - go to the NZ vodafone site (www dot vodafone dot nz) and click Internet at the top of the homepage, then the Internet on Your Mobile link that this brings up. There is a casual user rate of $1 per day, and only charged on those days you use it. NZ is very flexible (customer-orientated) in these matters. There are vodafone shops in all main towns/cities.
And buy a SIM when you get there - from memory, this will cost you around £10-£15; they will even let you choose your mob number from those available. Insert SIM in your unlocked phone, buy credit...and Bob's your uncle!
I'm a kiwi (20yrs in London, though) and have done this myself, though I kept my NZ SIM for future visits.0
