this is quite similar to a 'hedgehog' slice recipie that fellow aussies may remember. strange thing is i just printed off a recipe for my hairdresser after i had told her about it.
you could also use rich tea biscuits as they are not as crumbly.0 -

Ooh that sounds a lot like Rocky Road (but without the marshmallows). I'm going away for the weekend on friday and we've pledged to each take a treat with us so I think I will make this. Sounds delish!
