Insurance quotes for dog

Lost my post! :wall:
He is on Hills performance because he was underweight. I have most of a 15kg bag left but I think he will probably need to change at the end of this as his weight gain seems to be quite rapid! I do wonder about the richness of it though. The last few days are when I have seen some poos that look the way I have been told they should and are a lot easier to pick up! He won't do his business on the lead and I won't let him off yet so luckily I haven't had to deal with it in public! I'd like to keep him on Hills though as the Blue Cross are local and they sell it a bit cheaper than the pet shop.
He's having a puppy moment right now. He's so funny - really in need of a haircut now though, he's the shaggiest dog in town!
Just got a quote from AXA and it's over £5 cheaper a month for more cover and lower excess so I think I will go for that based on the feedback here.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

What do you mean by the food being too rich? If he is gaining weight too fast just cut the amount back slightly - having said that, once you get accustomed to sidestepping the stealing he will be eating fewer calories!!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I was a bit worried that the food was a bit rich for his constitution so he wasn't digesting it properly. I guess the weight gain suggests that he has definately been getting what he needs - as well as the "dietary supplements" he manages to find himself, lol!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

What do you mean by too rich, too much meat/ protein?Dogs are evolved to eat a high protein/ low carb diet, their stomach acid is much stronger and their gut much shorter than ours. It's grains they sometimes don't digest as well, and can also be responsible for excessive weight gain. Chappie is often recommended for dogs that often get tummy troubles, or you might try raw feeding. Is he perhaps eating too fast? You could consider a feeding ball, dog Kong, throwing his food in the garden so he has to find it, feeding smaller portions more often.
Speaking just for my cat, his doings are much nicer since he has been on better quality food - he arrived on Felix/ JWB combination and I was warned his poo smelt if he had too much wet food. No stink I changed to high meat/ low grain wet and dry with some raw.I've since been told he used to go twice a day, but only once since I have changed foods.

I cant find Hills performance online to look at whats in it, but you do not want hi getting porky, so a lower energy food could be a good idea to maintain a nice weight without him being hungry.
ok - just found it - it is a high energy working dog food,
Ingredients:
Chicken (minimum Chicken 41 %; minimum Chicken and Turkey combined 54 %): Ground maize, chicken and turkey meal, animal fat, dried beet pulp, digest, vegetable oil, dried whole egg, potassium chloride, salt, disodium phosphate, taurine, vitamins and trace elements. Naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, citric acid and rosemary extract.
Crude Protein 28.2%; Crude Fat 25.0%; Crude Fiber 1.9%
- it is very high in fat! Most working dog foods are far less than that, so I would swap it if he is still gaining weight, unless you are planning on using him to pull a sled or in some other very high energy activity all day, everyday!
I am about to swap my dog over to CSJ, I am very impressed with the quality of the ingredients for the price, they do a whole range - if you contact them and tell them as much as possible about your dog (age, type, activity levels, any poo problems etc) they will send you free samples! http://www.csjk9.com/
ETA - Ithink that fat content could definitely be making his poo runny - if you have ever had to clean up after a dog who has snaffled the butter you will know what I mean!0 -
Try Sainsburys pet insurance - I checked the other week and think it was £13 a month0

I WOULDNT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE.
We have 2 dogs who were both insured with Marks and Spencer’s, unfortunately one of them had to have surgery.
When Marks and Spencer’s change underwriters from Axa to Royal sun alliance they conveniently forgot to transfer the dog who we claimed on leaving our pet uninsured., unfortunately we did not realize this for some time and they took over a month to sort out their error and we had to chase majority of that time with very few returned phone calls. They are now refusing to continue the same cover even though it was there fault in the first place, but will start a new policy not covering the original reason for surgery.

Never had any problems with M&S they have always paid with no problems.
If your getting no joy from them directly make a complaint to the FSA0
