i registered to a site and there were certain limitations you can do without taking a subscription. they had an offer of a 3 day trial. so i took the 3 day trial and i got an email saying the subscription will expire in 3 days.. now after the 3 days this website has took it upon itself to take money from me and given me a 1 month subscription for £24.99.. now i never authorised this and i assumed if i wanted to carry on after the 3 day trial i would of had to change my subscription myself.. but no they did it themselves without actually asking me if i wanted to continue after the 3 day trial.. Are websites allowed to take money from me without my consent, after all it was only a trial but they went ahead and given me a months subscription without my knowledge, i only found out after i looked at my bank account.. Now what chances have i got on getting my money back.. i have tried talking to the website but no such luck..
any help is really appreciated.
thanx

What site was it, you may need to check there terms and conditions. Sometimes you have to cancel the free trial before the subscription starts
If it doesnt say anything like that then I would contact your bank and perhaps do a charge back0 -
but i never knew you had to cancel the 3 day trial subscription after the initial payment was made .. i just thought it waould cancel anyway thats what a trial is.. as for reading the terms and conditions.. i never read them simply because i got an email saying the 3 day trial will expire on a certain date.. the website is called https://www.benaughty.com0

"Once your initial membership period has expired, for your convenience, your membership will automatically be renewed at the same rate that you signed up for, with the exception of the Funtime Guarantee package."
Always read the T&C0 -
My browser rates that web site as bad
I agree you should have read the terms and conditions never sign up for free trials unless you do as they nearly always take money from you0 -
Once your initial membership period has expired, for your convenience, your membership will automatically be renewed at the same rate that you signed up for, with the exception of the Funtime Guarantee package. This means even if our prices rise, your renewal costs are fixed at your signup price.
Renewal will occur only when your current membership expires and not before. However, the bank prepares the payment 3 working days before that date, so if you do not want to continue to use the site you will need to cancel your repeat billing with us at least 3 days before the collection date.
You can cancel automatic billing at anytime before the 3 day period. Just go to 'my membership -> my account' to manage your account. Once cancelled, you will no longer be qualified for the renewal rate you were given when you first signed up.
TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP
You may terminate your Membership at any time with immediate effect by serving written or electronic notice on BeNaughty. Should you object to any provision of the terms and conditions or any subsequent modifications, your only recourse is to immediately terminate use of the Service and notify BeNaughty of termination.
BeNaughty may terminate your Membership at any time by serving 1 day's notice of termination on you, or immediately if you have breached these terms and conditions.
Upon termination of the Service, your right to use the Service immediately ceases and you acknowledge and agree that BeNaughty may immediately delete the files in your account, bar any further access to such files or the Service.
BeNaughty shall not be liable to you or any third party for termination of your Membership in accordance with these terms and conditions.0 -
This is how nearly all free trials work. You have to explicitly tell them you do not wish to continue.0

Can someone add this to the "I didn't read the T&C's and now I've been ripped off" pile please...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

That will be why I still get all these magazines delivered after my special offer ended.
21st Century natural selection at work...;)0 -
The only free trials that terminate after the free trial end date are ones where you don't give your bank details...
Presumably they DID take your bank/card details? Did you not think to question WHY they wanted them?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
