I threw a Kitchens Direct Saleswomen out of my house, after she had spent 3-4 hours sitting on my living room floor, re drawing the kitchen as it already is. Didn't ask about any changes I wanted, and then after telling her I had £5000 to spend, she announced my new kitchen would be £10,000, but they would throw in a dish washer for free!, but we had to order there and then I saw red, and my husband helped her out to her car! (only because she was pregnant). Complete waste of time and disregard for the customer.
I Hate sales people who are pushy and insist on taking 3-4 hours talking up there products when all you want is a measurement and an honest quote!

I used Kitchens direct about 18 months ago and found them fine. From quote to fitting was acheived in 2 weeks. They were about average on price of the 3 quotes i had but were able to do it the quickest.I told the estimator what i wanted and he drew up the plans no probs. The only downside I found was that they wanted full payment when the kitchen was delivered before fitting however the fitter was great and treated my house with respect and all he ever wanted was a cup ot tea every hour and worked solidly from 8am to 6pm without a break for 3 days until he finished.0

My sister's fella works for them- he wouldn't have one of their kitchens given, he reckons the charge treble what they pay for, and the quality of the goods isn't the best. Sorry if this causes offence, personally I dont have any experience of their goods or standards.. if in doubt- leave it out!! Why not shop around- have a look in your local paper, I bought a medium range priced kitchen from bnq and got a local bloke to fit it for me, he was class, bloody good grafter, and he done all the little extras without charging- he ended up with a brucie bonus in his paypacket- and an invite to my housewarming!! Be nice if you could use someone local, try asking around..RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I know i'll see you again my best friend forever.

If it's the same Kitchens direct as i saw on Watchdog then give them a VERY wide berth.I quoted £500 to fit a kitchen last night for a woman who bought it herself from Howdens. She got a very good deal on an end of range kitchen and i think the whole lot cost about a thousand. With oven, hob and sink, the whole lot will come in at less than £2000 fitted.
Her friend has just bought a kitchen from B&Q and they wanted £800 to fit it.Guess who's also doing that one for £500?
I personally think this is the way to go.Take advantage of the big stores planning service, buy the kitchen yourself and get a local joiner to fit it.
Places like Kitchens direct are nothing but a pain with their high pressure sales tactics and once you let them in,they are like a dog with a bone.0 -
I had a kitchens direct quote about 6 months ago. He quoted £9,000 for my kitchen which is literally 7ft by 10ft. It's the pokiest room you have ever seen and even the rep said it was the smallest room he had ever been in. When he gave me the quote I nearly choked. I knew I was going to have to pay well for it but I didnt think it would be £9,000.
I told him that it was about £1,000 more than I was expecting it to be but in reality it was more like £4,000 more than I was expecting.
In the end I bought units from B&Q and got a man in the fit them then bought a new oven and the whole lot came to £2,000 odd.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
Some friends of mine used Kitchens Direct and are still in the middle of an absolute trauma with them. They incorrectly fitted a fitting on one of the pipes, which led to a drip, which turned into a gush, which flooded their kitchen and the kitchen of the flat below them. They had to call a plumber out at the weekend, who confirmed that KD had used completely the wrong kind of fitting on the pipe - any fool should have been able to see that, apparently! They are denying any liability for the damage or the cost of the plumber to put it right, when they themselves wouldn't come out and fix it.
They also didn't turn up when they said they would AND also turned up unannounced at unarranged times.

Avoid like the plague. They did our kitchen 4 years ago, after a gruelling 4 hours high pressure sales pitch we 'haggled' them down to £6000 from £9000 - I reckon they would have accepted whatever price we were prepared to pay.
We had building work done by one of their building contractors and they bloke who did that was an absolute cowboy, the building firm had to redo every single bit of work he'd done. When we sold the house last month, we realised that we'd needed building regs on some of their (bodged) work and they never bothered to tell us. To their credit, KD did fix this to their expense, but not before we harassed them to do so.
Anyway, back to the actual experience... the fitting team went AWOL on the day they were supposed to do the job, so they had to find another team to do it. Again, we had to chase endlessly for them to sort out a fitter, all the while we didn't have anything to cook with.
The fitting was OK in the end, and we were satisfied with the quality of the units and fitted appliances, but we swore to never again go with such an iffy outfit. Life's too short to waste it arguing over the telephone with clueless KD employees!0 -
Many Thanks for the info sounds like you have saved me a lot of money and hassle, its the wide birth for kitchens direct.0

Avoid .I did some electrical work for a fitter who was fitting one of there kitchens.Loads of stuff came wrong .The plan showed an island unit and it was so close to the other units you couldnt open the oven door and stand in front of the oven. They wouldn't admit the mistake was theirs and refused to refund the cost of the island units. The whole kitchen had to be redesigned from scratch and the island omitted. We had to alter electrics and plumbing that we had already installed. The customer was heartbroken as the fit cost double and she was left with units and an expensive hood over and no island. They phoned kitchens direct while we were there and put it on speaker phone so we could all hear.Their customer service department sounded like a smack head drop in centre the woman on the other end was swearing at the customer and was just rude.I dont know how it finished up .I would not use these people .They are cheap for a reason.0

for anyone that is thinking of using the new kitchens direct that operates from the old kitchens direct address steer well clear would be my advice even if they are a scratch on the other company it will be bad...i spent £6300 on a kitchen that took 4 months to complete, cost me an additional £1000 in lost man hours at work, another £1500 to get tiled, at least 6 additional visits a damaged work top, fridge, dishwasher, incorrectly plumbed sink, realignment of all cupboards because none were fitted correctly and different taps to what i had ordered...thats without the 14 page dossier i wrote up...have i convinced anyone yet not to go with them...? and if anyone from KD is reading this and wants to dispute it i will happily talk to them !0
