Basket obsession. A confession.

I too thought I was the only basket geek in the world. I love them the OH has told me I can't get anymore - yet he still uses them to keep all his stuff nice and tidy next to his side of the sofa and his side of the bed LOL
I will be getting more and sneak them in the house - he won't notice I'm sure... another thing I am obsessed with is tins - I have all my baking things in tins all stacked in the cupboard... tins for biscuits... tins for sewing items. Oh and boxes too... I like them also, especially those nice stackable ones that get smaller the higher they go... I have all the odd cables for numerous electrical items in the one, and all my wool for knitting in another.
Reading this back it makes me seem rather odd... but I still like them - in fact I need to get a large basket/box this week to keep all my books in for my classes. Mmmm yippeeee."People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0 -
also be on the look out after Christmas as Selfridges sell off empty hamper baskets for half price in 3 different sizes. P&P is a bit steep but they are worth it and great to put the kids toys in etc. When I have kids I will save for a massive one as a toy chest.
I will go now before really start harping on too much LOL"People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0 -
This is not a problem. In fact, it's the American way. I am sure that Longaberger will be over soon...

They have a basket for everything! Including a pie basket.....ahh! Imagine baking a cherry pie, nestling it in red & white gingham in your pie basket and taking it round to a sick neighbour.........or eating it yourself whilst stroking the basket.....:TInfamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!

Oh I love my baskets
Every time someone gives me a gift of toiletries in a basket I keep it, some of them I use to make up presents, but only to people like my sister who will give me the basket back.
I remember the baskets from school with the plastic covers on. Problem was carrying them and your hockey stuff on the bus!
I have a wicker picnic basket that I just love, have never used it though!
I have my veg delivered from a farm and all year round it comes in a crate, but at Christmas I order a different one and it comes in a hamper, so useful and have them all over the house as storage. So much more presentable than plastic boxes.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I have baskets everywhere in the house including one of those stair ones that are supposed to remind you to take things upstairs with you - duh - mine has a flat iron in it, waiting for painting and a doll - upside down. But somewhere in the loft I have a beautiful italian shopping basket - I hope- so think I will fish that out too.Clearing the junk to travel light

Baskets Anonymous - I've found a spiritual home here! I have large basket hampers on top of two wardrobes. On all the cupboards, including the kitchen cabinets, I have large (nice matching) baskets where I keep things I only use occasionally, summer/winter clothes, spare bedding, stockpiled items and so on. I think they look so much nicer than suitcases or other storage boxes. I also have far too many baskets knocking around for laundry and ironing - must cull them but can't bear to throw one away until it falls apart - there's a bit of a heap in the spare bedroom. Then there are the smaller baskets - including one upstairs for the things that need to go downstairs and vice versa. (I did have a stair basket in my old three storey house but it didn't survive breaking my fall during an unfortunate accident! Will buy another when I see one). Then there are the nice ones with lids that fit nicely on my shelves full of all my sewing type stuff. In fact, I can see four from where I am in the sitting room, including a very old fishing basket that I use as a side table, and hide magazines in and a small one I stick the remote controls in to keep them together. Somehow, mess doesn't look like mess when it is in a basket.
Yet still, I find myself looking at baskets in the shops.....0 -
I wonder if there is a medical term for it such as basketitis or whickermania.....and is there a cure or are we all doomed (doomed! I say) to a woven life?

I think my basket confession has got lost somewhere in cyberspace.
We have wastepaper baskets, a log basket, a magazine basket, an ironing basket, a shopping basket, storage baskets in an IKEA unit, a laundry basket and storage baskets in the bathroom. In the pantry, we have an onion basket and a potato basket.
It's bad, isn't it? My MIL has an obsession with cane furniture, which is nearly the same. She has been banned from buying more.

Actually cane furniture is bulkier than baskets & harder to hide from your OH so I feel for your MIL!Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!
