Another basket lover here too :D

This is all the fault of my Dad, who used to have a basket shop & would make wicker baskets to order - including all the school cookery ones and dog beds made to measure!

I still have a few of his - a large oval log basket, a trug which is full of pine cones on the fire place and the Ali Baba basket in the bathroom. I recall he used to make cane headboards too, the hairdresser next door to his shop used one as a window dressing. (He traded for haircuts for us three girls, how MSE was that?! Feather cuts though, I've tried and failed to repress the memory!)

We used a picture of him making an Ali Baba basket at his funeral (in his Christian Slater lookee-likee days back in the seventies :D)

I can probably still remember how to make one too. :T

It's funny how child hold memories hold dear. My Dad had a stationary shop and I have loved browsing stationary ever since...still find it exciting!
    :T
Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!
    :hello:

I need some cheap baskets (wicker) with lids for small chocolate hampers for my children.

p.s I hate the wicker man films found them dark & disturbing

I got some of my baskets from here when they were visiting seemed like reasonable prices to me: http://www.jackstrawscountrystore.co.uk/

The postie has just brought my Gondola basket (Xmas treat to myself!) from this company. I love it and it has brought back happy memories - can't wait to go shopping with it! :j

I just love baskets have done all my life. When I look lovingly at food hampers in big stores my OH says stop it you are only wanting the basket it is in. :D Have baskets in every room holding just about everything you could name. Went to a funeral by train last year to Perth and spotted a set of huge hampers and baskets for the bathroom and had to take a taxi back to the station and then carry them home. My OH said they smelt weird but they are seagrass :rotfl:which I love. I also love candles and my pal's husband said if I lit them all we would be ankle deep in wax;)
