Recommendations for Fridge/Freezer, really want a SMEG!

Hi, after weeks of searching for the perfect fridge I am now after some advice from you all.....

I would love a silver Smeg fridge/freezer FAB30NE7 (costing around £1100)
Hubby wants a silver 'regular style' one...there is around £500 difference in the prices ....am I being silly insisting on the Smeg? does anyone have any experience of them?

Hope you can help??

If you can afford it, buy what you want. It will last and give you many years enjoyment.

After all, £500 is less than you could pay for a pair of > http://www.jimmychoo.com/uk/page/home?notify=yes

You are being more than silly wanting one, you are being plain daft!

Although the fridges look good, they are very poor quality inside, I had nothing but complaints about the Smeg fridges/freezers which is why I stopped selling them...

Go for a Liebherr. The king of fridge freezers.

We've had Bosch applicances for years, I've chosen specially for their quality and reviews and never had one let us down (yet...), our F/F is terrific was around £400 to £450 about 5 years ago. Just about to get a new Bosch Logixx dishwasher...

We're also looking at a new fridge/freezer but want a double fronted 'food centre' style to replace a Bosch freezer and a Bosch fridge (need something same width, 120 cm, as the 2 Bosch units as they're a bespoke fit into kitchen units.) I also wanted a SMEG.

1st problem is the SMEG is £3000, very overpriced! Found a nicer AEG at £2000 at John Lewis (up to £300 less than that on internet sites). A friend of mine has aSMEG (had it about 3 years now) so I consulted him
and his recommendation was 'DON'T'! He is not happy with his, generally poor quality fittings etc.

...so we're going for the AEG. By the way nothing wrong with the Bosch fridge or freezer units we have apart from the fittings - all the drawers, trays flaps etc, which are moulded SAN, have broken over the 10 years we've had them, and I'm fed up with stuff falling on the floor every time I open the freezer door!
  • Thanks so much for taking the time to reply everyone.... hubby will be pleased that I've been talked out of buying one!

I will look out for the recommendations above, I have a Bosch Washing Machine & Dryer and really pleased with both.

    Thanks again!

I'd go for a Liebherr, but make sure the temperature controls for the fridge and freezer are independent. The low end Liebherr units can only have one temperature control (not good)

enjoyment ???? i've never come across anyone who has got enjoyment from owning a refrigeration appliance ,my fridge freezer is the most boring appliance i think i own , it just sits doing very little aprt from keeping things cold and there's very little entertainment value in that ,
