Only ever went to M&S on Christmas eve once that was 25 years ago.
Never again,it was Bedlam and you can forget Christmas spirit it was every man for himself.
I don't know what the fuss is about M&S food is anyway it's not half as good as it used to be.0 -
I went to Morrisons last Christmas Eve as I had stupidly forgotten to buy Crackers. I thought arriving there around 7.30am would ensure I could nip in and out with my crackers and avoid the last minute hustle.
Lo and behold, upon arrival to the store there were security people pointing people in the direction of car parking spaces, and a queue backed right up the the roundabout 500 yards back. Needless to say we didn't hang about, and managed to pinch enough Christmas Crackers off a festively OCD aunt!Cheer up. The worst is yet to come - Mark Twain0 -

For years my mum and dad refused to buy a turkey before Christmas Eve waiting to see what bargains they would get - and they always did!! Usually a turkey and a beef/pork joint sold at ridiculous prices late in the afternoon - think they went to Sainsburys and or Tescos.
I was convinced that one year we would have all ther extras and no meat - bit like the Jif lemon advert at pancake day - but no they always managed to pull it off.
Even now dad will usually turn up with the pressies and a few bags of potatoes, brussels, a trifle each too!!! lol:xmastree:0 -
Last year I did my last few odds and ends of shopping at my local Somerfield. The place was almost deserted (I guess everyone was queuing at M&S!), and there was no shortage of anything.
Okay, there were no great bargains either, but the bliss of not being trampled in the scrum was worth it!!!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Have to say if hubby is at home (he works away so he is not home every year) then I will join the scrum and get some bits and pieces but if I have the kids with me we just stay at home with a DVD!
You tend to find that they are reducing them earlier in the day now and it depends on if the stores are open on Boxing day! When they are closed for 3 days then there are bargains to be had, but being honest they might be just as good on Boxing day............Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
I have posted this elsewhere but no replies so think it should be here but don't know how to move it but anyway.... has anyone been to the xmas eve food shopping in M&S is it worth the queing? Are there any real bargains to be had? Is there anything left?
Went to Waitrose on xmas eve late and got a £65 turkey breast with stuffing for £8 and veg for pennies so it was worth the scrummage:D sainsburys is o.k but not massive reductions, Asda is not worth it, Tesco had all their turkeys reduced in the morning so have done that but never M&S anyone know if it worth it? What is the best time? thank you:D
I'm down to work till 5pm on xmas eve:(
In fact I'm working till 5pm on the 22nd, 23rd & 24th:eek:0 -
Have seen huge reductions in Waitrose. Goose from £45 to £5. This was a new Waitrose that had just opened so it may have got the stock levels wrong.0
