Doubt it.Normaly it's either free install & £49 for the box.
  • Our sky+ box finally died on Sept 20th OH phoned and explained that we could not get anything apart from a green screen - he was told this was it the box could not be repaired and we would have to have a new one. We know of family members who have waited 3 months to have new box installed so he said if we had to wait we would cancel sky - what was the point in paying for sky sports etc if we couldn't watch - he was then transferred to the department which deals with terminations (?) who offered sky HD box for £29 and free installation OH said OK as long as we don't have to wait long - told no 3 days and it will be done. When it came to paying for the new box sky had problems and gave it to us FREE so sky HD box and installation FREE - thats the good bit now for the bad. Installer/engineer came 3 days later everything ok waited 5 hours for the signal but no recording, pause etc - numerous phone calls and 3 weeks later its finally working. Sky have given 6 months 25% off and £20 towards phone calls but it was endless calls explaining the same fault over and over again and honestly HD looks the same as normal TV to me.

Two Hoots, which HD channels are you watching?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • BBC HD channel and sky sports HD - we have a 2 year old Panasonic plasma TV which has always had a fantasic picture anyway so maybe thats why I can't see any difference.

If you are in a digital switchover area sky will give you a free HD box with £30 install. You need to agree to stay with sky for another year and take a multiroom (or an additional multiroom) to get this though
