Vodafone debt?

I have received some letters from debt agencies stating that I owe £480 from a vodafone account that I had over a year ago. I had two mobiles on this account, one which I cancelled within 14days (as was stated to be my right), and the other which I cancelled at the end of the contract.

I later discovered that vodafone had not received the phone I sent back and I was basically told at the time that this was not their problem! So I can only presume that I'm being billed for this contract.

Is there any point in me getting in touch with Vodafone now that they have passed on the debt to another company? I was thinking of sending the 'prove it' letter to the debt agency but not sure if I should do so before contacting Vodafone. I can't imagine that vodafone will be any help now, as they sure haven't been previously.

Any help or pointers would be a blessing!

Thanks.

Pop this into the debt forum, this forum is more for mobiles themselves.

Some simple questions thou to add with your new thread over there.

How did you return the item?
Do you have any proof of posting?
When did vodafone first contact you it had not been received?
Did vodafone request any specific means of return, i.e. recorded, insurance on the posted item etc?

There is no harm in sending the prove it letter, send it to the DCA as they will have to pass it to vodafone, this way the DCA will know your not just ignoring them.

There is also a vodafone rep on here who may beable to provide additional assistance

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
