Party ideas for 12 year old girl, help please

My dd will be having a B`day / halloween party with some games and dvd. The girls want to watch something spooky, but not too scary as they are 12 . I don`t know any films suitable for halloween theme that would be suitable for their age.
Can you please suggest any? comedy would be the best.

Some suggestions are Carry on Screaming, Ghostbusters 1 and 2 which are not too scary and has some good funny moments. One to look out for is the Corpse Bride which is by Tim Burton and is excellent, actually most of his films have a good element of creepiness and humour including Beetlejuice.

    Hope this helps.

spooky bats and scaredy cats! available at asda - my five yr old grandaughters love it and i like it too! its spooky without being scary. or any of the scooby doo ones.
  • erm, not sure what certificate Beetlejuice is but that's quite funny I think? Or the Corpse Bride, Nightmare before Christmas - that kind of thing?

Scariest film I remember from when I was a kid (not toooooooo long ago :)) was called The Watcher in the Woods - didn't sleep for weeks after that! It's not actually that bad though.

ETA cross posted with Holly, good suggestions though!

DD had a sleepover SAturday for her 9th birthday, and they watched Coraline. Its only a PG, but quite creepy!
Its a new one, but only £7 odd in asda, and thats for a 2d and 3d version, that comes with 4 pairs of 3d specs.

Not comedy I admit, but my (now) teenagers both enjoyed 'The Others' on a creepy night in a few years ago - would have been 10 and 12 at the time.

Oooh, yes! That's a BRILLIANT film: not high on gore/details, but ramps up the tension brilliantly! Don't expect them to sleep afterwards, though. ;)

The Others is rated 12,so would probably be OK with their parents, but do you really want a house full of girls who can't sleep because they're in a strange house and it makes funny noises? Or is it not a sleepover and are you going to send them home to have their nigthmares?:p

I'd be tempted to go a bit traditional and have them dooking for apples and jumping up for a line of suspended treacle scones. :j Be careful though, maybe swine flu considerations means this will be not be a good idea.

  • I think Ghostbusters is a great idea, sort of falls within the theme but isn't really scary...
  • Thank you all very much. I actualy have the Corpse Bride in the draw! never thought about that one and I liked it too. Will look into "the others" as they are not sleeping in my house, ha, ha, so I should be fine.

There's Hocus Pocus. Fab film, a bit scary, witch theme, quite grown up and a PG rating.

I also remember watching a film called 'Cry Wolf' which is a 12 rating. It is a bit creepy, but has a fairly unscary conclusion!
