yes I also got robbed of £79.96p, but My anger now is with paypal, I disputed the transaction when I did not get a reply from frog games, this was in october, why did it take paypal to allow 15 days for frog games to reply to them, and then try to obtain my money back ? (guess what no funds left for refunds ) that gave frog games at least another 2 weeks scamming more people, paypal was aware of mass complaints but did nothing ?
I have complained to them asking what date was there first complaint made? and how many £thousands was paid to thomas dashwoods bogus account, they refuse to expose any details at all, so I have also sent complaint to WATCHDOG about PAYPAL, I encourage all others scammed to please do the same, perhaps then we will see how many £thousands went in the account that paypal made 4% on... perhaps thats why they did not close down the account ?:mad:0 -
I too, was robbed by frog games, but I feel thatb paypal have been complicit in this scam,as they took 10 days to decide if the "seller" was at fault, by which time there was no money in the accountand they were "unable to recover the funds",despite finding in my favour!.Reading the various internet forums on this thread it became apparent that this person has been scamming people like this for some considerable time, paypal have been aware of this as they have had numerous complaints filed, but still continued to take funds on behalf of frog-games.
DO NOT BUY FROM FROG-GAMES AND DO NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING WITH PAYPAL UNLESS YOU CAN AFFORD TO GIVE AWAY MONEY!THEIR GUARANTEES ARE WORTHLESS!0 -
I'm also a victim of this fraud! £29.99 down the pan for FIFA 10! Like everyone else, I reported this to Paypal and, whilst they ruled in my favour, they could not reimburse me because, needless to say, good old Thomas Dashwood had cleared out his account.
I paid on my Egg credit card, so initially I thought that I would be covered by the fact that the purchase was made on a credit card. However, on further investigation, it seems that you're only protected by law for purchases of over £100. I have contacted Egg to see if there's anything they can do, but I doubt it, so it looks like I won't be seeing my money again.
Like others have said, Paypal doesn't seem to have acted with due care here, given the volume of complaints on the account. I have read elsewhere that Frog-Games was set up at the beginning of October, seemingly to exploit the Royal Mail strikes, which had been pre-planned. There must have been complaints from around mid-October onwards when it transpired that no goods were being sent out. So Paypal simply must have been aware that this seller was a bit dodgy with the volume of disputes being raised; you would have thought that some kind of temporary suspension would have been made. But then I suppose that the seller could hide behind the "it's the Royal Mail's fault" in the interim, and meanwhile collect all the cash.
Perhaps the victims could consider sending template letters to Paypal to express our disgust? It might have more weight then, and it'd avoid us all having to scribe our own complaints individually.

Another victime here, paypal not interested. Even after a month of people complaining about the webiste they were still allowed to trade...this cannot be right!
What i dont undersdtand is paypal tried to contact the seller....ONCE....that being on the day i made my complaint....seeing the day they sent their email to Mr Dashwood was the day after the website got closed down they would of got the same "message delivery fail" that i kept getting...yet they still waited 10 days to close my case, giving Mr Dashwood enough time to clear his account. They state they faught my cas using their "best efforts" policy?!?!
The whole thing stinks and i too have contacted Watchdog and the financial expert from the Daily Mail.
im up for a templated letter from us all.0 -
So not happy! Ordered Wii Sports Resort for £27.99 from frog-games (Thomas Dashwood apparently).
Yes, you've guessed it - no sign. So contacted Paypal and same story I'm afraid. No funds in the account for a refund. I thought payment through Paypal were safe but obviously not. Surely, from amount of complaints with this web-site, Paypal should have refused to take any more payments for them. Think I'll report this to Watchdog as they're probably be the only ones interested in getting our money back!:mad:0 -
So, it seems that when I placed my order on the 23rd of October, Paypal was already aware of issues with this site? Yet didnt act?
And they were certainly aware when I filed my complaint on the 10th November.
They do not seem to have acted in my best interests.
4% of £30 isnt a lot of money, but Paypal have it and I have nothing in return.
giving me the 4% back would be a start, but thats not going to happen is it?0 -
I too have contacted Watchdog about this; they must have had a lot of correspondence about Frog Games and Paypal, so maybe they'll do something for us!
I've heard back from Egg about possibly getting my £30 back, and they're sending me a claim form in the post, so maybe I will get the money! I wasn't holding out much hope after finding that only purchases of over £100 are protected on credit cards, but Egg's response seems to show some light at the end of the tunnel! I'd encourage others to do the same!'It is the duty of righteous men to make war on all undeserved privilege.' - Primo Levi0 -
Hi all,
I had a similar experience to many of you with Paypal and frog-games. Basically I will never use them for anything again other than e-bay. I quoted them the Terms & Conditions they advertise in large bold print about buyer protection. They referred me to some apparent small print in the on-line T&Cs I clicked against when setting up the account years ago. They were also pretty condescending to boot!
Anyhow, having come off the phone with Paypal fuming and vowing to share my terrible experience I contacted my credit card supplier - CapitalOne. They were brilliant and really helpful. They are sending me a claim form and as long as I state that I haven't received the goods and that I can prove purchase (easy) then they will refund in full and take it from Paypal - now there's a result that makes me feel good!
Paypal do have a defence, but to stop me getting a refund they have to prove (onus on Paypal not me) that I have received the goods. Good luck to any and all of you and boo to Paypal for their behaviour.
COME ON PAYPAL - DO THE DECENT THING - REFUND THOSE OF US WHO USED YOU TO BUY SOMETHING ON-LINE THINKING THAT YOU PROTECTED US.
AT LEAST PUT A BIG NOTICE UP ON THE PAYMENT PAGE SAYING "YOU ARE NOT BUYING FROM E-BAY. YOU ARE NOT PROTECTED BY PAYPAL" CAVEAT EMPTOR!
Martin - can you help? :money:
Good luck all.

Nice one CyberRick - hopefully you'll get your money back!
If anyone would like to send an e-mail to Watchdog, and join the anti-Paypal/Frog-Games bandwagon, please feel free to use my e-mail (sent last Friday) as a template:
Dear Sir/Madam
I understand from online forums that many people have contacted or will be contacting you regarding www.frog-games.co.uk and Paypal, and I am another such person.
On 20th October 2009, I ordered FIFA 10 on the Playstation 3 from the aforementioned website for £29.99, paying via Paypal, which was the only method of payment. The website looked and seemed completely genuine. The game didn't arrive after a week, so I decided to look at the website again for a contact e-mail to query my order, and there was a lengthy message on the home page which said that the Royal Mail strikes were causing all kinds of chaos, and that many orders were disrupted, but that we would receive our items eventually. I recall the statement also saying something to the effect that the Royal Mail strikes were destroying the business and that it was bringing the company to the brink of bankruptcy. I chose not to contact the company as only one week had passed, and I was sure that I would receive the game soon.
So, I waited another week or so, and my game had still not arrived. I therefore went back to the website, but it had disappeared! Alarmed, I searched Google for Frog Games, and I came across volumes of forum posts of angry customers who had had similar experiences. On reading these, I soon found that the website had been a scam. Following the action of other victims, I raised a dispute with Paypal to try to recover my money. Paypal ruled in my favour, but they said that they could not recover any funds, because the seller - a 'Thomas Dashwood' - did not have any funds in his account. Clearly, he had taken the money and run!
What angers me particularly is Paypal's lack of due care here. Clearly, hundreds (perhaps thousands?) of people must have been raising disputes with Paypal about this seller, stating that the website was a fraud, but Paypal permitted the seller to continue trading and steal people's money. Having cleaned out his account, obviously none of us could reclaim any money from Paypal. This just shows the specious level of protection you get from Paypal.
I imagine that you have received lots of complaints about this particular fraud, so will be familiar with the context. A quick Google search on Frog Games or 'Thomas Dashwood' reveals a plethora of complaints. It seems that the website was fabricated to coincide carefully with the Royal Mail strike in October, from what I gather. These fraudsters must have made thousands and thousands of pounds from this. Paypal have been completely irresponsible in my opinion. As soon as complaints started rolling in - most of which must have been alluding to a possible fraud - Paypal should have frozen the seller's account and not permitted any more payments to it. This action would have meant that hundreds (thousands?) of customers would have been spared from losing their money.
I have 'only' lost £30, but looking at the forums, some people have lost much more, particularly those who were buying consoles for over £150.
I would be delighted if Watchdog would investigate this further with the mysterious 'Thomas Dashwood' and Frog Games, and look into Paypal's role in this too. There seem to have been so many victims of this website - it certainly isn't just a handful of people!

Yep me too, i ordered Wii Sports Resort and and extra Wii motion, again i got screwed over the deal. Paypal are just a waste of time. i am really hacked off with them and their stupid policies! So much for safe buying, Hey Martin why not do a big expose on them, i reckon they are creaming off all these scammers cause i bet they get their commsion!!Thanks for reading! Come on ARSENAL!!!0
