Thanks Di, I have sent them a further letter and will update here accordingly ;)

If all goes well I will update this thread with full letters but I'm a bit paranoid that they'll read it themselves so want to wait until its settled before doing that LOL!

Well, GE have written to me again with another of their template letters which makes no reference to any of the points raised in my last letter. They have even said I should complain to the FOS - which is a bit of an own goal as their last letter said I could only go to the FLA.

I'm going to write back to them again, asking them to answer each of the points in my previous letter without the use of yet another template.

I doubt it will achieve anything, but to be honest I'm quite enjoying it! I'm almost looking forward to seeing what happens when they run out of templates.

They want to make up their minds, first telling you the FLA and now FOS, if this is the case and they do not resolve this, maybe you should let the FOS know this.
    Fingers crossed.:D;)

Hi 218bhp, thought I'd join in on your thread as well. We are not as far on as you in our 'template' replies from GE money yet but our situation is similar in that our paperwork was originally from iGroup but organised via Norton Finance.
Did you contact Purple Loans at any point ? ( sorry if I've missed you saying you have )

    Skippy:)

I've not contacted Purple loans as they wont have been regulated at the time and will probably give me the same response as GE. I'm going to make sure I've exhausted all of GE's templates before moving to another company.

The actual insurance company is my next target - but in order to do that I need GE to tell me who it was.

Sadly that's one of the question's they keep avoiding in my letters.

I'm planning on writing another to them this weekend so I'll put a brief synopsis here (I'm paranoid about them reading this forum so wont paste the whole thing)

    Update:

In February I wrote another letter to GE, complaining that they had failed to answer all of the questions in my previous letters etc.

Through a friend in the City of London, I got hold of their CEO's email address so copied him in on it and sent him an email askign if he could look at things for me.

Today I have received a letter from a director of GE who was asked personally by the CEO to investigate my complaint. They have also taken legal advice on each of the points raised.

Unfortunatley they have concluded that because there is no supporting evidence either way, they are unable to consider my claim for a refund. They have pretty much asked me not to write to them again and to only contact the FLA in relation to this matter.

For you information, their CEO's name is Mr Colin Shave but for obvious reasons I cant tell you his email address.

They have at last told me the details of the insurer so I will now write to them.

I hope you all know that purple loans is now owned by GE Money.
Can anyone on here tell me how GE Money can get away with all the lies that they tell to people and has anyone ever been successful in claims or reclaims of PPI.
I now think all the bodies that are supposed to regulate the like of GE Money are just laughing at us all and they are all for the like of GE............Even newspapers who used to let people power work dont care.
I would be interested on anyone's comments on this.

Thought I'd dredge up my old thread now that the PPI case has gone through the courts - Does anyone know if the recent case will have any impact on my claim against GE?

To save you reading it all, GE eventually stopped sending me template letters and got around to reading my letters. After all that they said they diddnt mis-sell the PPI and they diddnt want to hear from me again. Sadly they were not regulated at the time the PPI was sold.

Is it worth contacting them now?
  • Hi 218bhp,

Just seen this thread on a search. Am trying much the same with GE HL through Purple Loans. So far they have been all sweetness and light taking details etc but I have yet to hear. Just read your thread. How did you get on with the insurers/underwriters? Seems to be quite a lot on here abouyt FOS chasing them but so far not very much I can find listing results. Will gladly share the response I get (when and if I get it) here. Am not holding out much hope. Maybe we should get a sharing thread for exactly these cases. My biggest regret I took my loan out in October 2004 oh to have waited three months!!!!!

Anyone else out there got anything to share???
