At least we were around to battle it out on the -2.5% monthly threads.
The argument has been decisively won by the bulls.

Celebrate while you can, at some point you may realise that it will have to be paid back.

Have I missed something here? It's like Vietnam or something.

"The great day of victory over the bears has come upon us. My father, and his father, and his father fought with their lives for high house prices, and if they had been hear today we would be crying tears of joy. They laid down their life for this moment, and we must not forget them.

Be wary of the bears my friend, with their lies and treachary. Bull lives have been lost and incalculable privations and sufferings have been experienced by our people in the course of the battle. But age-long struggle of the Bull peoples for their existence and their independence over the bears has ended in victorious HPI. And to God we should be thankful.

We must not be complacent. Our evil enemies will strike again for their wish of affordable housing for all. Comrades! I urge you! We cannot let them win. We cannot forget the suffering and anguish that our father's father's have gone through to ensure we can present a year on year positive house pirce graph for areas in and around the South East. God rest their brave souls.

Glory to our great people, the bull victorious!"

Seriously, are we still all talking about house prices? Or like all good old-fashioned lengthy wars and battles, have you lot all forgotten what you were actually talking about in the first place?

Much better to have a little joke.

    Rational argument? Debate? On here?

Jokes are great: but the rational debate? lost in argument, so....if its reading through jokes to understand a point or reading theough vitriol I choose the former.

Yes I was trying to make a point. But you knew that.

Indeed, and that's the point I was making. You lot may as well just pick either Red or Green as your favourite colour, and then just argue with each other which is best until the end of time, whilst calling the supporter of the other colour a tw*t.

I might be being cocky here, but I think my 'joke' made more of a point about the current way of thinking on here than all of the pointless "bulls have won" b*llocks being splashed around all over the place.

It's house prices for christ sake, it isn't that important. And anyway, my 'joke' was mainly slagging off this mythical team we / they have created called 'the bulls'. THE BULLS!! Yahoo. Shouldn't you, rewired and a few others be thanking me? I thought that's how this sides thing works?

I think a lot if it is simply male banter. Not to be confused with nastiness.
It's like watching Jerry Springer, with the two apposing sides, albeit actors, going at 'it'.
Even the guy clambering for the high ground, i.e. JerryS, is watching with baited breath.

I think that if they were to meet, they'd probably buy one-another a beverage.

Mewbie - be careful you'll get PPRed
That would be a shame. I would miss out on the Ryanair offer (Ryanair I ask you), the 'free' pizza (why oh why is it always pizza?), the savings account (from 'Mr. Icelandic banks'), and I suppose the one decent thing - some free Lego. I could start building my own house.

Mewbie, you can hardly complain at the lack of rational argument when your first reaction to rational arguments you don't agree with is to call people unpleasant names. And if you don't like MSE, why hang out here?

    1. I can do what I like till I get PPR'd.
    2. I am here not through choice but a sense of civic responsibility to redress the nonsense that is spun by people like your good self. I don't ask for any reward for it.

Well Mewbie, how far do you think you redress the balance by calling people silly names? Fine if you want to refute points by rational argument, but you don't, you just spit bile when things go against your belief system.

It's fundamentally disrespectful to come to a site and insult other members of it on the basis they use it to get a free pizza or use it to find the current best buy savings account. It reminds me of the nonsense here when the board was cloaked when people claimed that hiding the board was going to cost the clueless masses tens of thousands because they'd be going for pizza rather than going for STR, which claims incidentally were what brought me here in the first place, I was annoyed by them. I was told off for "talking down" to people at the weekend, well what on earth do you thing that is? And obviously with prices rising, it's just as well people weren't exposed to that advice, it would have cost many a lot more than anyone lost at Iceland Bank.

There's a wonderful passage by Blake, which talks of Angels considering themselves the only wise. So it is with you and the bears, you are so locked up into your personal metaphysics you consider anyone outside your beliefs as heretical and worthy of nothing more than contempt. That's how Chucky is described as a bully, while you're calling people names. You have a major double standard.

I like free pizza. I fly Ryanair. That's normal real life. Back off, chill out, and show a little respect to the other users of this site. Or else go back to HPC where you and a dwindling band of brothers can wind each other into a grotesque frenzy.

    Well I'm up for it.

Given that all the panelists are my sock puppets, we'd need Mewbie. He could be the washed up comedian who's trying to show he does serious but who doesn't really make any sense.

And we'd need Graham in the audience to do the rambling voice-of-the-average Joe comments that Dimbleby loses interest in two thirds of the way through and moves on to the man in the brown jumper, yes, you, on the third row.

    You should be flattered.
