It was nice for 2 days but now its wearing thin, yesterday afternoon was gorgeous but now its grey and wet again... I wouldn't mind so much showers with sunny spells but grey skys are so depressing.:o my garden is like a swamp now.. can't even cut the grass....

I am off work for the first time in 20yrs awaiting ill health retirement to come through and instead of enjoying my first summer without working , I am indoors waiting for the rain to stop... and getting more and more addicted to all the interesting posts on this site...:rotfl:

It may stop soon. The sky is looking a little brighter over the channel. Or is this wishful thinking?

for my degree, I have to produce a dissertation...10,000 words on a research topic that I have chosen.
For this, I have chosen to research the effects on metal mining pollution on macro-invertebrate populations (essentially, how metal pollution affects creepy-crawlies in rivers).
So, that means I stand around in a river for a several days collecting water samples, and identifying and counting all the creppy-crawlies. T
hats all very well in nice weather, something vaguely calming about being next to a gently flowing river all day...but when it rains, it makes it miserable to stand around in river, can get dangerous if rivers too high/fast flowing, and most importantly makes all the calculations more complicated.
One thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.

Only 5% of the eligible population give blood: do something amazing today, save a life, give blood
