continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyHi mountain,
I guess its his decision in the end but if he's signed the letter, I think you should maybe just post it and act the innocent. I don't know actually, maybe this is a bit dishonest. I just don't like to hear of the bank's *winning*!
Good luck with your decision - so sorry I haven't been much help.

continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyCould you not split the difference and offer to settle for 75% of what they owe you. Thats how I did it OH didn't want to fight we nearly settled for half but gave it one final push for more.
At the end of the day its money he most likely had already written off so anything is better than nothing and its not worth fighting eachother about.Barclaycard 3800
Nothing to do but hibernate till spring

about it ....so I would be prepared to settle for 75%.
Its not that we've had a fight but I really do hate it when we don't say goodbye in the mornings, 'cos you never know what the day is going to bring - do you?2014 Target;

I personally would want to go for all of it...............but its not worth falling out over and half of something is better than you expected to get a few months ago. I currently have a claim with moneyclaim against halifax and there is very little chance of it going to court but as your oh is aware there is always a chance.
Good luck with whatever you decide:T0 -
continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyHi mountainofdebt,
I wouldn't worry at the moment about you both being a bit off with each other. Just think of your OH's face when he sees a cheque for £2000?

continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyHaven't some people accepted the offer of half and then continued to chase for the rest? Maybe that would be an option, as hubby would know that you wouldn't lose the £1k currently on the table if the second claim did fail (not that I think it would!)
Obviously though, if they've said it is in full and final settlement, it might not be possible!Highest Debt (Sept 04) -> £41,300Debt Free - August 2006!!

continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyPart of me would be tempted to take the money and run. Afterall, up until recently you probably had no idea you could claim the charges back? So it would be a nice bonus.
On the other hand, they obviously are in the wrong & if you could get £2,000 back, just think how much more you could do with that money? I know it means dragging it out for a bit longer, but for the extra £1,000 it would be more than worth it.

continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyThe money is yours, they have taken it from you (while not technically illegally) but they know that as soon as you get to court they will lose
Counter saying you want the full amount back, plus interest, and am NOT under any circumstances going to accept this
It will not get to court stage (people have claimed more back)0 -
continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyI have to say I would continue with claiming the full amount back. I have been following this on the bank action website and you seem to be doing really well. I know its scary but just think it won't be long now, I think it's their last throw of the dice before caving. There is alot of support avaiable to you- don't be afraid to use it ! Hubby will appreciate it in the endDivorce all finished- now to start saving for a better future!0

continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyYep, carry on claiming.
I certainly woudnt roll over for the bank, they have never done it for me.
What does my head in is that banks cos they hold your money and financial future think they can play god. Well they cant if you wont let them. GO FOR IT! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
