Bank Charges Reclaim - would you take the money and run

Have tried to reclaim over £2000 in bank charges, plus interest.
Things did get abit hairy last week (Scottishspendaholic, I know exactly where you're coming from about feeling wobbly) but thanks to a BRILLANT letter I had written for me, the solicitors appointed by the bank have offered just over £1000....but subject to certain conditions and is only a goodwill payment....not a return of the charges.
Hubby is all for taking the money and running (and he was the one who couldn't understand what the hell I was wasting my time doing) but my attitude is that why would they offer such a goodwill payment if as they say our claim has any prospect of succeeding?
I need to make a decision within the next 24/48 hrs , so thoughts guys????

continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyDo what makes you feel comfortable. I bailed out at 2 3rds of the total as it would have cost too much to go to court.Barclaycard 3800

continue claim.....the bank know they're in the wrong and want to settle cheaplyWell, you know me from the "other side", no way would I accept... But then, I refused the lot when they tried to gag me, so...
I can't help feeling they have some damn cheek trying to negotiate a settlement when YOU're suing THEM...
Imagine the other way round: "Well, I know I owe you Mr Bank £ 5000 in debts, but what do you say I only pay you back 2.5 k, and we'll say no more about it? Oh, and would you mind not telling my other creditors about this, I want to try it on with them too?"
You can just see it, can't you...:rolleyes:0 -

I claimed back £535 but was only offered £175. The temptation was too great as we really needed the money that week and I accepted it. Afterwards I had feelings of regret. This week we have had a letter from Alliance & Leicester (my other bank) completely refusing to refund any bank charges at all. They are saying that they are justified. I am not sure whether to go on with it or just give up but i must admit their letter has annoyed me.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

over whether to accept or keep fighting.
Well it wasn't an arguement as such ....it was one of those conversations where he says his piece, you say yours and then he goes to work without saying goodbye (which I always feel is much worse than having a slanging match!)
Anyway he wants to accept the money partly because he doesn't believe we'd get anywhere but mainly becuase he works for himself, is snowed under and doesn't want the (potential) hassle of going to court.
For I feel partly vindicated that they have even offered this amount but I know it would always bug me that we didn't stay for the fight.
So even though he has signed the thanks but no thanks letter I really don't know what to do.2014 Target;
