Good whiskey for Christmas?

Some good suggestions already posted here (Talisker is a personal favourite of mine!).

However, for a special occasion I would try to look for something a little 'different' and outside the mainstream. Within your budget, I would recommend Johnnie Walker 'Swing', available online (I use 'the whisky exchange'). It's a very smooth whisky, but the bottle itself is also an excellent talking point. I've never seen it instore in the UK, which makes it that little bit more 'special'.
