Just a quick word of warning - I bought one of these chargers last month, and the blasted thing wasn't just faulty, it also damaged my laptop! Two hours after using it, my laptop completely packed up, and the charger was smoking and fizzing.

I had to take it to the shop - and ended up paying £350 for service and replacement parts.

    NEVER AGAIN.
Did you check the fuse before you used it. A lot of the cheap Chin/Jap stuff doesn't have a proper fuse, just a lump of wire where the fuse should be. Also, I asssume you checked the specs on the back of the charger matched your laptop's requirements before plugging it in?

We've bought a few replacement chargers from ebay (the result of a badly designed laptop which makes the wire get very hot, bend easily, and eventually break) and never had a problem lke that.

This is exactly why we need to keep replacing ours (not this one though, this really was faulty) The charger plugs in right where the laptop gets hottest and it gets really hot despite us doing our best to keep it cool and I swear it melts the charger!

Anyhoo just wanted to update, I forgot at the time. I said I didn't think it was right for me to pay for it to be replaced and they said ok and they didn't want the damaged one back. They sent it out really quickly too so i'm happy :D

  • Glad you got it sorted in the end. Going to have to replace my own charger soon :( currntly got the cable taped to the back of the lid as that's the only way the sodding thing will work right now lol.. Thinking I may end up buying from ebay too.
