The City is expected to pay out £6bn in bonuses this year, 50% more than a year ago

    So totally made up then.

    Thanks for providing the proof.

    They are a strange lot.

    Explains a lot ;)

PS. I worked for Tokai Bank for a couple of years and hated every second, although the funniest thing I ever saw was one of the Japs having a 'power sleep' throughout the US Unemplyment numbers one Friday....absolute mayhem and he was fast asleep :rotfl:

they are a very strange to work for - worked at Nomura for a while.
all senior positions seemed to be held by japanese staff.

there focus on costs and efficiencies was a bit OTT.
this was in the early 90s - they had CCTV on the trading floors for 'security reasons'. more like wtaching people

    Can you prove otherwise?

Still i like this quote from the Chancellor

"I've spoken to all our banks and none of them would be standing here today if the taxpayer hadn't put their hand into their pocket."

Hahahahaha - the burden of proof should be on the person making the claim, not the person disputing it. Don't get yourself into a petty argument about this. Just accept that the article was sensationalist, written on speculation and get on with your day :)

Read carefully. Our banks. Thats a very small number out of all the financial institutions in the City.

    What ??

Now that is a really stupid thing to say

So the £ 6 Billion number that the Guardian has plucked out of thin air, has to be correct, because it can't be proven to be incorrect.

Actually the amount is £ 5,483,529,175.83p, and must be assumed to be 100% correct unless someone can prove the amount is different :rotfl:

I worked there too, albeit a decade later.

They took the cameras down in the end in case they were 'invading our privacy' by reading personal emails off our screens.

Funny bunch. The bosses used to open a door just enough that they could squeeze through so there could be no confusion about whether they'd held the door open for a junior.
